From an infantry perspective that is, I know forge guns have their own issues with vehicles, but that may be looked at in the future.
The problem is how splash damage works and not the weapons.
Everytime there is a weapon with lots of splash damage people have a problem with it. First the flaylock and now the mass driver, grenades, and the forge gun; if the plasma cannon gets any type of buff it too will become flavor of the month.
These weapons do great damage to entire areas and issue that ammo regulation does nothing to solve thanks to supply depots and nanohives. Come to think of it these weapons themselves greatly add to nanohive spam.
Assuming a round from a freedom mass driver detonates on the ground, it covers 86.8 cubic meters in 127.6 damage at base.
Add in skills and 2 damage mods and this goes to 108.4 cubic meters and nearly 175 damage.
This is of course just the mass driver, but similar large areas can be bathed in large damage from far away from other weapons all based on splash damage.
The flaylock wasn't the problem, and neither is the mass driver or grenades or forge guns, splash damage is.
I am not trying to argue that area denial isn't an important function for a weapon as I agree it is. The problem is the way splash damage is working currently and until you address this problem, people will continue in this round robin of FOTM->NERF->new splash weapon FOTM. |

That is already in the works to be deployed in a week, I am sure these weapons will still be a problem after the fix. |

What kind of system does the hit detection run? tranfer this into a code when the nova knife hits the guy he gets damaged or killed |
