If we can get enough interest, I want to start a Militia Round Robin Tournament on PFC. The rules will be pretty simple:
1. All mercs can only use Militia/BPO or Meta Level 1 gear 2. All participating corps can only use mercs that share the same corp tags; no ringers of any type a. If you enter the tournament and can only field 12 mercs from your corp, then you have to play with just 12 mercs 3. No vehicles of any kind; merc vs. merc, nothing more 4. No glitching or using exploits (this will be a hot button topic; so, we can get this built out with those corps that are truly interested) 5.10 million isk entry fee per corp
If any of the rules are broken, the corp is automatically eliminated from the tournament without getting their entry fee refunded. Of course, the prizes will depend on how many corps are interested. For simplicityGÇÖs sake, weGÇÖll say 10 corps sign up (100 mil isk pot):
1. 1st place will get 60%, which equals 60 mil isk in our current example 2. 2nd place will get 30%, which equals 30 mil isk in our current example 3. 3rd place will get 10%, which equals 10 mil isk in our current example
If any corps outside of PFC want to sign up, they certainly can. However, they understand they are responsible for buying clone packs to attack those on PFC; this can get very pricey. But, again, if a corp wants to do that, IGÇÖm all for it.
Now, we can adjust any of this, but IGÇÖm interested in what corps would sign up. Once we have a good roster of corps, we can move forward. We can even use the Se\7eN website to keep track of everything, set up battles, and talk smack.
Let me know whoGÇÖs interested. Happy Gaming!!!

If we want to get a third party involved, that's fine. I have an alt that does nothing, has no isk, and just sits there. That's if you guys trust me to hold onto it.
We wouldn't ask for any isk until we have enough corps to actually go forward with it. |

Yeah, only corps that can field 16 of their own mercs should sign up. I gave the example of 12 because even if Se\7eN signs up, but for whatever reason can only field 12 guys one night, we can't bring any ringers in to fill the extra slots. we have to play with 12.
I think anything that is labeled a Meta Level 1 should apply; I don't care if it's militia, starter, BPO, or aur. Anything Metal Level 1, other than vehicles.
I would most likely use all BPO stuff, but that's just me. |

I'm going to stick with Meta Level 1 gear. If you can't use a MD or Scrambler Rifle, then you'll have to simply not enter the tournament or adjust. I don't want to make this super complicated because it doesn't have to be.
Same with trusting the entry fee. There needs to be some sort of prize, in my opinion. If we could make a stupid virtual trophy for everyone to see, that would be fun. But we can't.
I can assure people I can be trusted and won't run off with any money, but I know a lot of people trust no one in this game. What I will say is that Se\7eN will have a PFC district. If I don't hold up my end of the deal, feel free to take it away from us.
If you are interested, respond with your corp name, and I'll add you to the OP. Isn't it time to have some fun? |

Yeah, we're not going to ruin our reputation over any amount of ISK.
Remember, check out the market. As long as the gear is Meta Level 1, you're golden. It doesn't have to be in the Militia section. I'm just naming it that because it gets the point across.
However, we could go militia only. So, you can't use any gear outside the militia section. We can decide that later. Everyone understands the point that this is going to be bottom of the barrel gear with no vehicles and no ringers.
The tournament will have to go on for a while; it's not something we'll accomplish in 1 day or even a week. It also depends how many corps are interested. Corp with the best record wins.

Yeah we already run BPO merc battles to make it fun sometimes lol. So if the time zone times, aren't to out of whack, then the boy's would love to play i think. We'll get on to it guys and let you know asap but i dare say it will be a hell yeah.
P.s would it be possible if the tourny could be matched on the wkends? Or would that be too difficult?
I think we'll fit the matches whenever they can happen. It will be between the teams to set them up. Everyone knows that they have to play everyone once, and we'll build it out when we get a final head count. So, if you guys are playing Se\7eN--for instance--we'll work out a time that week for us to play. |

That sounds like a plan. After we get the district and get our clones full, we'll get it done. |

Although I understand your point, I'm against any alliance use. As I stated before, we want this as simple as possible. In order to do that, the rule will remain absolutely no ringers.
Once you open the door for ringers, everyone has a different definition. I don't want to get buried in those conversations or arguments. |

We're going to test both ways before we make a final decision; so, once we get our district back on PFC and get clones, The Generals will attack. During that match, we will either go anything Meta Level 1 (BPOs are included) or we'll do only [Starter Fits]. Then we'll attack you guys and test the one we didn't do.
After those two fights, we can report back here with our opinions. This will take a little bit; everyone will have to be patient while we set this up the right way. |

All we want to do is test the two possibilities with The Generals; then--after that--we can start the Round Robin. I have a feeling this won't happen until next year. |

Let's do meta 1 - [starter fits] are pretty boring.
All right, I'll let my guys know it's only Meta - 1. No vehicles, right? That's the way the Round Robin will be. |

The first PFC all Meta Level 1 match happened tonight: Se\7eN vs. Hellstorm.
Hellstorm took home the victory, and it was a very good time. Another rule we had was no vehicles of any kind.
Here are my thoughts: We had mercs on both sides break the sacred rules. For Se\7eN, we had a new guy bring in an advanced breach AR. As soon as we saw the kill feed, we started yelling at him and he stopped. On Hellstorm's side, there was a Freedom MD at one point that was all over the kill feed, and after the game we got a lot of Enhanced mods, proto mods, etc.
I'm listing all this because it's to be expected, and I know Hellstorm had discussions about it. In my opinion, it's going to be extremely tough to police this unless we're harsh and say anything other than Level 1 is an automatic DQ, which means both our squads would be out.
It might be simpler to do only [STARTER FIT] with no modifications. This will eliminate some roles and weapons, but it might also eliminate any confusion. We need to test it.
No matter what, this was a ton of fun with new tactics, and it's definitely worth doing more tests to set up a tournament.
Thanks, Hellstorm. Great fun! |

I move for ONLY MLT starter suits. That will be the most fun That is definitely an option. Once we get more corps interested, I say we put it to a quick and easy vote. I'm all for it, though. Corps build their teams with role specific specialities. At standard level, every player can employ their specfic talents because their gear is accessible. If you enforce a MLT only policy, you could potentially force a player out of their role and performance will suffer. I would say that ISK varients are only used absolutely no aurum gear. I imagine that the point ofthis tournament of yous is to show off individual skill and corp ability without a gear advantage. With standard level gear, all plaayers within a corp can participate and fulfill what they have been training themselves to do. No discrimination. However, pilots will be left out to dry with your no vehicles. I dont mind seeing militia tanks or dropships as these are vital tactics that all corps.must imploy to be competitive at any level. Standard level modules would be fine. Though i also understand why you dont want to see a tank, they can easily turn the tide of a battle IF AV isnt present to challange their asserted authority. These are just my thoughts and i hope others agree with me.
Actually, the main purpose is to have fun. By switching up and allowing only [STARTER FIT] or Level 1 gear, it completely changes up tactics and strategies. I noticed last night it even changes squad makeup.
Let me repeat, last night was a ton of fun. We died a lot; so, that's something to note from this experience. And not having vehicles was interesting from the GET GO: no LAVs to worry about; no spawn links on the top of buildings; no tanks coming in and dominating. This was all about team work on the ground.
By the way, Hellstorm, sorry we couldn't field a full team. We still tried to give it our best, but it's harder and harder to get 16 on these days. A lot of people are interested in other games.
As for your ideas, Iskandar, they are definitely things to consider. I want to first try the all [STARTER FIT] battle and see how that works. Rules will be no vehicles, and you can't do any modifications to the original fits. By this I mean, you can't even swap out an injector for a militia nanohive.
This will add another element to the game, one where mercs aren't in control of their fits. How will that change up tactics/strategies? Who can adapt best? I'm interested to see how this shakes out.
After we try that, then we can come back again and make a final vote. And there's nothing to say we can't run multiple tournaments if we find out we enjoyed different styles. We'll get our clones back and try this again. The Generals, we need to set something up, too. |

Yeah, a lot of heavies last night, but it's not like they controlled the game. Isk is right, they were too slow without the LAVs and were big targets.
Isk, we'll take the [STARTER FIT] feedback into account. But the only way we'll know if it's fun or works is if we actually try it. And I suggest we try all of these different ideas multiple times before we land on the end product.
I, personally, think [STARTER FIT] would be fun because it forces people/teams to adapt more. It's no different than Meta Level 1 in that regard except it takes it up a notch. There were plenty of Se\7eNs last night that have used the majority--if not all--of their skill points in vehicles. However, because of the no vehicles rule, they had to adapt.
I think these types of games--with restraints--are fun and bring a different aspect to Dust. Heck, we could have a tournament where everyone can only wear Heavy suits, and you still can't have vehicles. How interesting would that be without an equipment slot and being that slow.
Not the best idea in the world, but it would still be fun. And I have no SP in Heavies, but I would still participate and have a great time. |

You bunch of sissies! :)
All right, we'll stick to Meta Level 1 for right now, but we need to have as "pure" of a match as possible before making the final decision. So, do we think we can enforce a match where only Level one gear is used...all of it?
Once it comes to the tournament, I think we would have to have strict rules. If a team has anyone break the rules, they automatically lose the game. I think that's fair. They can still yell at the player, boot him from the corp, etc., yet they live to fight the next battle.
Or we could crown a winner by win % and not by amount of wins. Then, if you cheat, you get two losses on your record. I think this will discourage corps that are already losing from grabbing proto stuff at the end of a game just to be stupid. I can see that thought crossing someone's mind: "hey, we're already losing; let's wear proto and win the match just to get the ISK. We already have the loss."
There will have to be a lot of trust for this stuff and pics. We can set everything up on our website. |

Well, I'm sorry to say that someone else will need to take over this tournament idea. Our PFC district was attacked last night and taken. It was the first match I couldn't make it; so, information is still funneling in.
Sounds like we only had 4 guys; they had 11.
This, and the Hellstorm battle the other day, are just glaring examples that Se\7eN does not belong on PFC. We can't consistently field 16 guys, even with 24 hours notice.
I ask everyone to welcome their new neighbors and not kick them off. It sounds like they took the district fair and square. We could, of course, get our 16 best and take it back, but it will simply lead to us having the same issue of not fielding 16 on a consistent basis.
I appreciate the great battles and tip my hat to all the corps that wanted to have fun and play the game right. If Se\7eN can get some of our core players back to Dust, you'll see us back in PC.
