I've always seen how big the maps are and how little we use of them. I thought you could have massive 100 vs 100 player battles (like eve)if you removed the red zone to the edge of the map and put 2 mccs and have more null cannons with them spread out more.

never going to happen the OPENBETA is a way of lowering your expectations so that you will spend real $ on a fraged up game like this . 100 vs 100 lol they cant even get 10 vs 10 to work correctly. In reality this game is all talk no show and thats not going to change any time soon they charge $30 monthly and in EVE it takes weeks to train skills so u see the ripoff that is ccp. They say all sorts of things and deliver nothing.
STOP BUYING AUR UNTILL THE GAME IS WORTH A CRAP. |

There are serious technical issues to this.
The PS3 is the main one I think.
Your phone is probably more powerful than the PS3. The devs seem to spend a huge amount of time on "optimisations" which are required to get the modified Unreal engine they are using to run on the PS3.
If you increased the number of players by a factor of 6 (to get 200) PS3s would probably start catching fire. Just think of the whining we'd get on the forums then....
Lag is another potential issue. This game is often pretty laggy as it is. Increasing to that many players would probably make things much worse.
Ideally I guess CCP would enforce/encourage players to be distributed around the hopefully huge maps so that they only interact on a strategic level.

At Fanfest they spoke about how this is a goal. But it's further out.
Fist comes making medium, light, and heavy suits for every race. I believe we're getting some of that this patch.
Other things are plants/trees, vehicles like fighters/tanks for every faction/speeders, PvE unlocked by owning a district, space elevators for economy and what not. It is there. But you have to think in one month increments. This game will constantly get better, just like EVE. They will outlast all other MMOs or FPS games out there. By maybe a decade if not more. But that is due to small and meaningful updates every month or so.
TO re-iterate. It's coming. SOONtm |

Buddy, lets just say 48 v 48, and the whole map.
100 is a little overkill, and makes it look like your overcompensating for some issue, so you make this marketing advert about how huge the battles were.
Point in case, MAG. It out grew itself, so it just seemed like 4 battles on the same map, not one giant battle. |

well mags biggest problem was lack of new content , i think dust will easily surpass mag if they keep releasing contnt on a regular basis, especially once mag servers are shut down in january, hopefully dust will gain all the people that still cling to mag |

One of the principle aims (CARDINAL aim) of Dust 514 was to bring the social interactive environment of EVE Online over to the PS3 culture of players. CCP knows this must be done without damaging EVE's momentum in even the slightest way. This is one of the reasons why they have always admonished that the TRUE opening of Dust should not be expected before January 2014.
These months May through December are only an advanced kind of "Beta", so that they can do REAL full-time analysis and corrections based on REAL full-blown activity from the PS3 operators. (Yes, we consolers are actually lab rats for 7 months).
One of the principle differences (CARDINAL difference) between the EVE Online pc users and PS3 console users is that phrase "SOCIAL INTERACTIVE". I suspect EVE's 10 year boast was made possible by the fact that pc users can be VERY social with each other during gaming. We CONSOLE users don't really have that experience or the know-how in our typical PS3 games.
SOCIAL involves having constant productive communication with fellow fighters in the gameplay (so constant it becomes second-nature): ---I've heard the incredible flurry of effective communication that goes on in a single night's "battle" on EVE. ---(By comparison, aside from SOCOM etc, we're endure mostly **** poor laundry gossip and anti-social ranting in PS3 Comms.)
AND being SOCIAL also means being involved in reading the content, mindset, and lore of the game: ---EVE players seem to use the lore and background info as a rich database for shaping their game strategies. ---(By comparison, the only thing we're used to reading in a PS3 game is "the Leaderboards", and cheat-guides.)
Please don't get irritated or condemn this experimental game if by chance you're NOT regularly being SOCIAL by at least reading up on EVE Online gameplay and components (not just reading the Devs sites about when our proto cigarette-lighter will be improved). Not knowing the mechanics of EVE, and thus being unaware that Dust cannot do the things we're cursing about without its umbilical connected yet, will only make you have headaches/tantrums about what you are going through with Dust right now.
The sooner we understand that Dust 514 is symbiotically a COMPONENT of EVE Online, and never meant to run as a stand-alone PS3 title, the sooner some of us will stop trying to "f&%k" / "incinerate" / "fully-overhaul" what is (until after January) as yet an Un-activated game. I'm not suggesting that the condemners just switch off and LEAVE. That would be rude and unfair. But if you're looking to enter Dust with the MaG free-to-frag attitude, or the typical "no-social-required" mindset that are so common in PS3 titles, please GIVE UP now and just decide about unistalling your Dust. You're only going to be complaining for the next six months, and you're not going to be thrilled anytime AFTER the January activation either.
I for one DON'T want you to leave. I want us to shelve our crits/declamations within the understanding that Dust is a un-expandable petrie dish until at least January... and also want us to develop EVE's SOCIAL interaction skills that the menus of Patch 1.4 will try to introduce, so that we form a MULTITUDE of consolers are ready to step into whatever happens after January.
The hardest learning curve we have to grind through in this game is... US. |

Exactly. And personally I think it is very exciting to be part of the development process. The game really is going to be better. That said, I like it now.
