Well, I am positive CCP won't do anything about it until we don't care anymore. Constructively CCP could announce this glitch a violation of TOS, and that it will be monitored and any corp or person caught still using this exploit after 5 days of the announcement, will have their account banned, or reset. This is like buying up all the houses in monopoly. No Houses = No rent. The rules are very clearly laid out and we are following them to a T. The way to counter buying up all the houses in monopoly is to not let the dude get set up. You've had months and months to attack us. The LoI war was the ideal time.
This is such a ridiculous argument. It's just so disingenious, and doesn't really reflect reality. I'm just going to copy/pasta my response in the the bugs forum thread, because it's just as relevant to your post as it was over there:
I wrote:The problem is that you guys acquired all of this land while PC was unplayable to a large chunk of the playerbase due to lag and memory leaks, and while the balance was arguably as skewed and "broken" as it's ever been towards a few FOTM setups.
Heck, I'd be surprised if the majority of players even realized you guys were grabbing so much land, most of us didn't even look at the stats for PC for months. Now that the majority of the technical problems with PC are fixed, and the game is a little bit more balanced, everyone takes another look at the game mode and lo and behold; 1 group seems to own most of the territory.
Now, this would be fine if the equilibrium could be fixed by attacking your districts and whittling down your hold to just the amount of districts you guys can hold (which was the main intent of the FEC). Unfortunately, with the broken mechanic of being able to "lock down" your districts and still turn a profit, you can pretty much sit on all that land inevitably.
Is this your fault? No. You guys saw an opportunity and took it. Unfortunately for you guys though, just like so many other aspects of the game, CCP's mistakes are going to have to negatively effect someone in order to fix them.
So, if you guys want to sit on those districts and leave them locked indefinitely, then go for it, it just helps prove how broken the game mode really is. However, if you don't want to sit on them and keep them locked, then it looks to me like you're either going to keep getting attacked until you reach a size that you can hold on your own, or you can step up to the negotiating table and meet the demands of the FEC.
The cheap way, the hard way, or the easy way.
Your choice. |

We earned all of our districts fair and square. Most of the corps that we took the districts from, didn't show up or showed up with like 4 guys and ringers.. PC has been playable for months now. And still we marched on. Because we DO like a good fight... but most of the matches launched were red-line- pubstomp that were never intended to do anything but waste our time. Granted some corporations showed up ready, but the vast majority of the attacks were designed to take us away from playing the good games. Also: Neither side is in a position to make "Demands". Locked or not, I think we have a strong position. We've used this time to stomp out the fires.
You're in a "strong position" because you can lock your districts at will. If you could fight and hold your districts, you would do so. If you want to prove otherwise, then stop hiding and fight the FEC without exploiting wonky game mechanics. Like it or not, there are demands being made, but you're right that they don't have much bite. Why? Because again, you guys can just hole up and make money indefinitely and only fight when YOU want to.
Furthermore, to say that PC has been "playable for months" is a ******* joke. It STILL isn't playable, but now not because of the memory leaks and lag spikes that were a problem until very recently, or the ridiculously boring FOTM issues with Flaylocks, and before that CalLogis. Instead, it's because the people who bothered to play through the trash gameplay and amass an empire fighting, as you yourself have admitted, small groups of unorganized players (because, why bother with PC, it was broken) now own most of the land simply by virtue of being willing to play a bad game mode on a broken game when no one else cared.
So, cool for you, I guess, for playing when it was terrible, but if all of you clowns would have sat it out like the rest of us; maybe CCP would have fixed things sooner. Instead, you helped perpetuate the problems by keeping the numbers up in a literally broken game mode, took most of the land, earned billions of ISK, and can now exploit the continued broken mechanics to insulate yourselves from having to actually defend your land.
I mean, get real. |
