I been playing this whole yr an yes a lot of weapons have been nerfed as a fix but I feel whole classes have been merged by so called " balance" . I feel that instead of weapon balancing there should be "class" balancing. For instance a commando can now use 2 mass drivers which is way worse than anybody with 2 faylocks, a assault player can use any light weapon an everybody has a mass driver. Well what if we had breach suits, say they could only be the ones that could equip a weapon like a md an maybe have more grenades an say smg s are universal.
Or a breach heavy a lot tougher an slower like before, optional to skill into of coarse but certain weapons fit certain suits, maybe not now, but for future weapons have them fit certain classes only.
Right now scouts are stuck with knives shotguns an smg, have way less HP than any assault an assaults nOw run scout fits with way mor HP . Heavies have been reduced to driving lav s or hiding with forge guns because there class took a nerf, we have a few logis on the field an hardly anyone picks you up with a needle other than militia, just to let you die an do it again for a few points, an nobody except squads even use uplinks anymore.
When I started this game it was awesome! Heavies we're scary, assaults were assaults, not god mode scout/assault/heavies/logie they killed an maybe picked u up wit a advance needle. Scouts ran faster than ANYONE an logies, actually helped you.
So maybe there should be bonuses or war point penalties for classes. So let's say the best weapons for a logi are a mass driver or a shotgun. Md for breach an suppression or a sg for cqc protecting there team. Now let's say if they use these weapons they get +60 a kill + 50 for universal weapons an + 40 for say something they shouldn't use like a sniper ( yes I know logi suits make good sniper suits to some but maybe they can make a sniper suit an if people use it for something other than sniping they get +40 kills ) So if this makes sence to anyone I would like to hear what you think.
This way classes can be what they are supposed to be. Now I know not everyone plays pc or skirmish so making role specific suits won't all translate, like myself for instance I like ambush a lot lately but being a scout doesn't translate well since assaults now run shotguns an speed mods an scouts are basically skirmish creatures an most people only spec one class so this could be tough to figure out but I think future classes an weapons should start heading in this direction to even out playstyles.
Things like logistics should get extra points for using rep tools an hives needles an links, assaults should ge extra points for consecutive kills, scouts extra points for hacking an destroying enemy equipment, an say heavies get a bonus for consecutive kills an installation or vehicle destruction, maybe assaults an heavies get similar bonuses an maybe these bonuses double if using certain weapons, so a logi gets more points for a md kill than anyone else but assaults get consecutive kills an a bonus if using a rifle for say 60 a kill an + 40 if there using mass drivers but a logi would get + 60 for his weapons an + 40 for other things.
Explosive weapons give less wp than prescission weapons unless it's your class. Any thoughts? |

7 Djin wrote:Oh yes, by all means create a class with more grenades and md rounds. :( Didn't. Come out right when I wrote it but basically just a explosive class so that way it would have say no side arm or equipment so it would rely on a logi , it couldn't go lone wolf an blow everything up. There's gotta be a way to balance the classes so people actually do there jobs |

I would imagine putting weapon type restrictions on dropsuits would bring Dust closer to an RPG format than CCP or the general player base would want (i.e. only mages can use staffs, only archers can use bows, ect. ect.). I'd say it wouldn't really matter to me, i'm running a straight assault type with an AR, but you're gonna have a good portion of the player base up in arms when a bunch of their fits are suddenly invalid. Demands for respecs and or SP/ISK refunds would skyrocket. Also, being as how CCP would be trying to balance the game by dictating which suits can use which weapons, that would pretty much mean starting from scratch balance wise. A prospect that i'm sure everyone would be less than pleased with.
I feel this would also go against the spirit of the game. Leveling up your skills, buying more advanced equipment, and putting together the best combination of stuff your CPU/PG will allow is one of my favorite parts of the game. If you limit allowable weapons per dropsuit, you have to do the same with equipment at which point, for me, whats the point? Take out the leveling system, give everyone access to everything right off the bat, and let them mow each other down in death matches.
As for Logis not healing and Heavies not being scary anymore, I'm still terrified of Heavies when I see them come into view with his little Logi buddy ridding his coat tails. I have had no problems being healed or revived by the Logis I run with, but I am running in a squad with people from my Corp, and most have mics, and that makes a huge difference. If I jump in solo, I know whats up. I don't try and squad up with randoms, and I never count on randoms for anything at all. I just do what I know i'm suppose to be doing depending on how the match is unfolding, and if a blueberry helps me out awesome. If not, i'm not shocked or surprised, it's what I expect when running solo.
Personally I feel like changing things around to make the game more about the people NOT playing PC than the people who ARE playing PC is a bad move. I'm still far far away from seriously considering jumping into PC, but that's my final destination. Yeah, the grindings fun and all, I love leveling in any game, but without PC, I would delete Dust off my HD tonight. I know you're not saying get rid of PC, but making the game mechanics cater to people who aren't interested in the meat of the game is, to put it bluntly, stupid. There are plenty of other FPS and RPG games that have rode down the same trail. Dust is trying to blaze a new trail, and even though it apparently hasn't been very pretty so far, i'm sticking around as long as CCP keeps its balls on the prize.
On the WP section of your post, I have no comment, still a bit to green to make any knowledgeable comments on the topic.
