This happened to me just now. I share it as a cautionary tale.
I was up on a relatively high hill. I had just "retired" some guy below me, in a medium suit, I think. Technically, he was "on a hill", but it was kinda a low-ish hill, comparatively speaking.
He must have got a good directional marker from the damage, so he comes looking for me with a sniper rifle immediately after.
So here's the thing.
First off.. he comes running towards me. RIGHT BACK TO HIS SAME SPOT, more or less Umm.. don't do that. ever.
Secondly.. he had a sniper rifle. Why was he trying to get closer to me??
Thirdly.. okay, he was "above" other people.. but from my perspective, it was like he was running across a flat plain. A flat plain with nice big white snowdrifts, so he stood out like a rabbit in a coyote festival. Straight towards me. DONT DO THIS!!!
"Finally".. figuratively and literally..
So, he's running towards me. He knows Im there. He gets so close to me (100m? 150m?) he has to actually see me, surely? He has to see I'm *looking at him*. Crouched. Scoping him, just watching him. Thinking to myself, he's really not that stupid, is he? I can just let him be, right? ... Nope. Keeps running dead towards me (ahem). While I have him in my scope the entire time. The only thing you can do that's WORSE than running directly away from a prepared enemy... is run directly towards him.
And then he crouches, to "get revenge' on me. Needless to say, I took the headshot.
Thanks for crouching for me! Made it muuch easier to line up the shot.

jingle wingle wrote:So is this an educational post, or are you just boasting about your kill or disparaging a rookie who made a mistake?
boasting would be 'WOAH, I TOTALLY WASTED THIS GUY I RULZORZ!!LULZ"
Educational is "here are things not to do".
Those who can be educated, can learn from that.
I pointed out probably 6 things that were bad. |

Nope.
"nope", I didnt point out 6 things, or "nope", you cant be educated?
All from my prior post:
- Comes back to same spot
- Closes distance even though he has sniper rifle
- Comes across flat land
- Comes across snow
- Comes STRAIGHT towards me, instead of the key "no straight lines" mantra
- Could have seen me ready and aiming towards him, should have given up
- On top of everything, crouches.. in the open, flat land, when I'm ready and aming for him, to give me an even easier shot.
That's six points, plus an extra credit bonus.

Pshaw. That makes them feel important. Scope them, and if they dont have high totals, headshot them with a militia sniper rifle ;)

head "glitch"? I searched around, but only found this reference:

This doesnt sound like a glitch to me. This sounds like "smart sniper, sniping from cover".
and btw, the obvious solution to that, once you find him, is go drop a dropship on his butt. You could do it figuratively, or even literally. A militia barebones dropship is "only" 68K :D

I cannot fly those things to save my life Sure, every now and then in a boring red line match I go all the way back to the initial spawn area and call my mighty Viper down from the heavens. Then proceed to crash all 5 I normally keep stocked and traipse back to the action invigorated and a little ashamed.
lolol...
not that great myself... I think the trick is that you have to expect to move slowly. Get very high... then tip forward a LITTLE bit.. for about 2 seconds... then level out very gently, but you'll continue to coast... then wait for 5 minutes until you get to where you want to go.
I think crashing rapidly, comes from attempting to MOVE rapidly :D
o course you're very vulnerable to AV during that time, so you probably want to start a little closer to your objective than "the other side of the map" ;-) |
