I never thought I'd see the day when I would get stomped by a Minmatar Scout. At first, I thought he was using some sort of exploit, something to give a little extra edge, he moved like some sort of crazed druggie, I could barely hit him, and in an instance, I was dead. I could have sworn I was hit that "Melee Glitch" everyone has been talking about, after seeing him a few more times, I saw he was a Nova Knifer , like me, except I didn't bring my pair, after trying to kill him a two more times, I finally realized who he was, it was Maken Tosch. From now on I'll never doubt Min Scout, not like today, the man walked out of that match with over 20 kills, with just a knife.

So, I've gotta ask, has anyone else fought an enemy that was just so damn different from the rest, that you had to try and give it your best?

P.S. If you're reading this Tosch, you cost me over 200,000 ISK trying to kill you, no hard feelings though, it was fun!

Seeing players who use weapons that are insanely hard to use situationally are admired by myself; I feel that this next patch (1.4) will definitely help nova knives gain the popularity they deserve among the scout community.

I like seeing more than one weapon being used on the battlefield, but then again, maybe that's just me.

Anyone who can use shotguns properly in this crappy build. The aiming is HORRIBLE right now, yet I see a very few who can pull it off. I can use shotguns, but it is VERY hard to stay consistent. Flanking with at least one Dampner and my Scanner has given me the most success.

Do consider that Knova Knives are bugged at this time and can be used to Rapid-fire you to death, all they gotta do is get into melee range and your 950 EHP (if you have that much) evaporates in less then a second add to that a scout going 10+ ms is very hard to hit due to the buggy hitboxes at high strafing speed.

Basically they are using 2 undocumented features until they get fixed, sadly this can take 2-3 months at CCP's rate of fixes looking back at the Calogi and Tac Rifles....

You're confusing the melee glitch with the nova knives. The melee damage and knife damage are separate from each other.

However, there is a bug with the knives that enables me to sprint with the charge held. It's common knowledge now. You just start the charge while swapping weapons.

However, the bug doesn't make anyone a god with the knife. The only reason I got over twenty kills with the knife is because I have become so specialized into the knives for an entire year that I have conditioned myself like a xiaolin monk to use only the knives. And this was way before I discovered this bug. Even without the bug, the knives can already do crazy damage once you maxed out the skills and fit complex damage mods. Even the uncharged strikes can be deadly if handled by an expert.

Tosch is good with those knives, ive lost a few suits to him.

You do know charged proto knives on a proto scout so something like 1.4k damage a swing right? Before sidearm mods

I believe I've been shanked by Maken once or twice. I don't think it helped me that my first urge on seeing a Nova Knifer is to stop and salute.

IMO, the only things you can consider Hard Mode in DUST any more:

Nova Knives (outside of Battle Academy...)
Laser Rifle (until the patch)
Plasma Cannon
Shotgun
Scout
Dropship

I haven't seen a good Plasma Cannoneer yet, though I've seen several people try.
