My brothers in paper mache` armor, I find myself distressed. I have recently specced into proto sniper rifles. This was a good thing, however, I cannot fit one of said rifles on my basic scout suit unless I run no sidearm or reduced modules. I don't want to have to run an assault just to carry my Ishukone. I seek to remedy this. However, with the 8x modifier it would take a long time to grind to advanced suits. What is your preferred way to maximize your cpu on your scout suit? I run in a Valor or Valor variant. I usually fit two profile dampeners, a nanohive, a basic light damage modifier, a standard scrambler pistol and a sniper rifle (usually an NT/511). I have one rank in dropsuit electronics and engineering which allows me to just fit all of these (129/134 cpu, 30/35pg if I remember correctly). Do you recommend I invest in electronics to fit things quickly or go the way of fitting optimization or advanced suits which will take longer?
TLDR: Is it more valuable to have advanced scout suits, fitting optimizaton or accross the board cpu/pg capacity increase for a scout suit trying to fit a proto rifle? |

Electronics and Engineering are vital.
Without them even a proto suit is hopeless. |

if you want to fit proto weapons on a scout I fully suggest upgrading your suit cpu and pg skills help as well, it's a grind but it'll help you in the end.(also gallente has more cpu then minmatar)
Also the profile dampiners ain't working correctly right now I'd suggest taking them off unless you're trying to hide from active scanners.
if you're a sniper only I'd suggest stoping at adv scout as the gallente pro has only 1 high slot (weird I know) |

Maybe drop a profile dampener for a CPU mod? Its short term solution till you up your CPU skill. Also get the sniper rifle skill that lowers your pg.
Level your core skills ASAP. Then work on getting a advance suit. |

If you're looking for a quick fix, get into an Advanced Suit. Cheap, effective, and unlocked faster than maxing out CPU passives. Both skilltrees are in your future, so you aren't losing ground choosing one over the other. That said, remember to check slot configuration at higher suit levels before choosing your progression path. |

possibly forgo the nanohive and invest some more into electronics and engineering until you can fit everything you want. Also consider joining "Scouts United" chat when uprising 1.4 comes around, we will be experimenting with all manner of stealth oriented squads and I predict snipers will be vital for spotting targets. |

I'm a sniper but not a scout/sniper.
But I do have some advice.
Turf the secondary weapon.
If you are scout/sniping you use stealth as your secondary weapon. Maximize absolutely everything you can to reduce your scan profile. Every module you can use.
Then max your sniper skills.
Be a sneaky sniper. You'll be hell-on-wheels to counter-snipe.
My two cents.

First off, I just have to say: Any time I see someone on my team get shot with an Ishukone sniper rifle, that person has just made a "new best friend", for the duration of that match. That is to say, I will never give up on them until I Find them, and give them a *special* hello
That being said: if you're already in a scout suit, with just one dampener and some damping skill, you're probably goin to be practically invisible to anyone else out there except for another scout using a sniper rifle.
And if that person is out counter-sniping.... you aint gonna be able to hide, unless you have THREE dampeners or something. So if you wanna play the odds, you may as well just drop one of your damps.
The other thing is....
*wrestles with himself for a bit*...
Nope, sorry, not going to tell you until I've killed you at least one time with your ishukone :D
(Hm.. I may have gotten you once without it already, lol)

I would recommend leveling up your electronics (CPU) and engineering (PG) to L2 or L3. Getting those levels should be relatively cheap SP-wise. Additionally, by taking your nanocircuitry to L2 you can use a compact nanohive, which uses less CPU/PG than the standard L1 version.
This may be all you need to fit your higher level rifles. I'd also recommend going with the CPU upgrade module while you work on your core skills, and then lastly, the upgraded suit.

I don't consider myself as a full "scout", but instead a "jack of all trades" infantry. I take extreme enjoyment with popping everyone as a shotgunning scout. I go positive every game with a setup that uses nothing more than standard or less gear. It's hilarious to blow the brains out of proto suits with it.
(Even better when I make the HMGers bunny hop.)
Scouts are not dying. The amount of competent scouts is dying. |

All core skills to 4 ASAP or you'll have trouble fitting most suits.
Profile dampeners don't hide you when I scan the ridge lines and hiding holes with my weapon. You'll light up red and I will hunt you down. I now also carry an active scanner when hunting. If you see "You have been scanned" then take your eye off your scope and look for the guy that is hunting you.
Because of the last point don't ditch your side arm. I just love watching snipers try and dance if they see me coming with AR and SMG. I have never been killed at close range by a sniper when I'm hunting.
Listen to what is going on around you. Just last night I killed two snipers sitting next to each other. A third was coming up the road behind me but he didn't have a sidearm and died too. Listen for foot steps. Listen for nearby gun fire. Stop and look around periodically.

As far as I know profile dampening only affects active scanners and people's very short range and mostly useless passive scanning. It has no affect on whether people can see you with line of sight (and therefore flag you on radar). I therefore see no reason for a sniper to fit profile dampeners. That should save you a fair but of cpu and pg.
I play a scout with a shotgun or knives and since uprising I never use dampeners. |
