Get your dropsuit fittings skills down first. If you do it the other way around you won't be able to properly fit a proto suit...

 Dropsuit Core Upgrades
 Dropsuit Electronics
 Dropsuit Engineering

Get em' all to at least level 3, then youGÇÖll be able to theorycraft some nice fittings.

 Core upgrades.

A Proto suit without core upgrades is inferior to an advanced one with core upgrades.
 True this.

If you already have complex shields/armor your pretty much ok and at least shields and armor at lvl 5 for core. Get those core upgrades up first, or at least up to lvl 4.

He still needs AT LEAST CPU and PG increase.

Core upgrade for +1% Stamina,Sprint speed and stamina regen are a must

The weapon to at least Proficiency 3.

Yeah I forgot about CPU and PG increase. Level 2 or 3 is fine unless your fitting it like a proto suit.

Core skills, at least advanced modules/equipment and probably weapon to proficiency 3 or so.

This is because suits are tiered by CPU and PG usage. A Proto suit with basic modules is only marginally better than an advanced suit. Your advanced suit will prove to be your pub suit once your skills improve.

LOL Okay... if you want an affordable suit that can pwn proto pubstompers (1 on 1 and if you have the advantage) get at least prof 3 on whatever weapon you use, lvl 5 shield upgrades and armor, core upgrades to lvl 5, CPU and PG to lvl 4, and of course complex damage mods and shields, and maybe armor and reppers or enhanced regulators depending on what kind of suit you use.

 Weapon First

After that, complex mods are the next thing you should have. I would say shields/armor and then damage. Skill up your PG/CPU to allow you to fit them on your suits. A suit is only as good as the mods you put on it.

Get the core upgrades to 3 (cpu, pg, and core upgrade skill) and then get proto suit. That's what I did at least.

I agree core first. I have mine to 5, is it worth it. In my opinion yes, yes it is. Reason is you build a house from the ground up, a stronger core makes you a stronger player.

make the best basic suit you can

then make the best adv suit you can

you wont be running proto all the time, you just wont be able to afford it

so maximize your cheap suit and skill out your passives

passive shields and armor are the most important, at least get them to 4

complex extenders and plates are next (since they give passive shields and armor as well

then move on to passive weapons stats, a standard weapon with proficiency 3 is a hell of a weapon

Your Core skills work for all play styles and for every suit you will ever own.
When in doubt, Max em out.

 Armour and shield to 3
your choice of shield extension/armour plates/repairs to 3 dependant on what you plan to tank
 cpu + pg to 3
advanced dropsuit in which ever class you choose
 weapon mods to 3
weapon skills and any equipment to 3

Thats the way I skill my characters, obviously you cant get them all at once. You earn plenty as you work your way up.

If you have to ask that question, you're already doing it wrong.
