This brief guide was made solely to help and give suggestions to new players on how to avoid the dreaded protostomp by teaching them the right time to log in and what game modes to play in said time frames. The current SP system makes it so that players will play on certain game modes on certain days to get the most out of their time and each match they play. So enough introduction, on with the guide.
The Most Important and Number 1 Rule: Don't play on Wednesdays! Why? Because that's when the bonus SP cap for each week is reset and everyone is playing to cap that SP again. All the game modes are packed with squads ready to riddle you with bullets.
Rule of Thumb #2 Skirmish on weekends is generally not a good idea since everyone has free time from school or work. Why Skirmish? Because weekends give you the time to finish those drawn out matches and give you the most SP.
Rule of Thumb #3 So you already capped out playing all weekend and now can only gain SP from WP and it's limited to 1000 per game. What mode gives you lots of WP in the shortest amount of time without going over that 1000 limit? The answer lies in Ambush and all the vets know that. Play Skirmish instead.
General Rule of Thumb (Based on my preference) I usually stay away from Domination because all the matches feels like the opposing team is stacking squads and besides, it's practically Ambush with an objective and uplink spam.
Well, that's it. I said it was brief, didn't I?
On a side note: If you do the exact opposite of these guidelines you can find good, competitive play for those looking for a challenge. |

I disagree on rule #3. I say play Domination. Play a logi fit, lay nanohives and uplinks and you can easily max each game. Other than that good post. |

I used to play dominations after cap but have found out that ambushes lead to more SP, even if you do not consistently reach 1000 WP per game. So long as you get over 600-700 WP consistently, it results in more SP for your time. |

An interesting set of suggestions. The way I figure, the more players there are overall the more non-protostompers there are. Of course I base this on absolutely nothing. |

I don't like Dom, as I find it very Clustered, and that dense firefight, multiplied with the fact that, until 1.4 hits, I'll be playing with mega god death-machines, I avoid them for both profit, along with simple annoyance from losing via just being in better gear.
Evenly balanced Dom matches are great fun, but right now, due to the prevalence of high quality gear everywhere, it just isn't as fun as it could.
6 or 7 days left for infantry fun.... |
