The first CoD was a good game when it came out. The complaint about CoD is that it has not changed with each release but obviously it has improving game play and graphics with each release and the addition of content. Yet somehow Dust 514 which copied CoD's lobby shooter game play will be different because it will not have episodic improved releases and will literally be the same game in the same universe with the same characters we have now 10 years from now.
And Dust will be iterated upon just as EvE has. Eventually there will be every kind of vehicle, suit and weapon possible. Larger and more varied maps. More planets to fight on then anyone can count. Each with it's own varied terrain of hills, valleys, crevices, and mountains. Fully explorable buildings with multiple rooms and hallways. Along with various different changes to game play possibilities. Having it set up the way it is now is just easiest to work with. Rome wasn't built in a day and while CCP does have some developers that worked for DICE and a few other companies that had a hand in making BF and COD variants the vast majority of CCPs people have probably never made a FPS. Also they're working with unfamiliar code since they have both a mix of Carbon and Unreal being used. |

That is my point. They very thing CCP fan boys criticize CoD for is the same thing they praise Dust for....of course the CoD developers have actually executed those "iterations" while CCP with Dust has not....They are being praised for stuff they may or may not do in some unknown future time span.
Iterated on by adding new maps, graphics and effects yes. But, those developer companies also sell their product at 60plus dollars an iteration. And you end up with a new one every what, 6 to 8 months. Hell, by the time they get a new one out they already have announced the one that's replacing it. That's not including all the DLC map packs they throw in to boot that you pay another 30 or 40 dollars for each in between. Of course those companies are also sickeningly rich, and have several thousand people working for them. CCP has less then 300 developers between all their projects, and they can somehow afford to not only not charge for the game, but give out free expansions and iterations on top of that. And when was the last time any game company that has made BF or COD games ever asked for advice or even added players' ideas to their games???

CoD sold billions.... how many people still play DUST?
Some people just like forking money out to rich people. Of course those same people forking out the money are the same ones that complain about the rich people being rich. |

You have gone way off subject. This thread is about stomping on fan boys and their idiocy. Not about CCP. Now i am not talking about people who play dust and enjoy it...those are not fan boys. I am talking about the people who every time you talk about Dust as it actually is they thread jack the discussion and spew BS about CoD clones and 10 years and a whole host of crap about how one day dust will be great. These people, these fan boys need to be stomped out of the forums and shut up. Note: CCP can be blamed for much of this. They stated half the crap Fan boys spew day in and day out. Still what they say is simply advertizing. They have to do it. It is part of making and selling a product. One should be able to rationally parse that out of discussions...not repeat it over and over as if it is an argument or remotely a valid point.
I'm just going off of how well EvE has done. It was a horrible piece of crap when it came out. Now it's quite successful as a niche game. CCP has yet to ever completely throw anything away. I don't expect to see them do that to this. But, of course console gamers are fickle things. They have the attention spans of small children for the most part. So, no surprise that most of you will leave and I say good riddance. The problem we have is the slugs like you who continue to come and post that the game sucks and you're leaving. Instead of posting, how about just leave. If I thought it was crap I'd have left and not posted anything. But I guess some people just like to blab because they love hearing themselves talk. |

DUST just needs to get good faster. The only tools for Player Retension atm are SP/ISK Grind, Customization, and the thrill of hunting AUR Wallet Spammers & taking their "Pennies to the Dollar" as Prizes (Hoping FW geets that Loot Table poppin'), & even that is not enough to maintain the Playerbase. The Fun is lost on many when their options are "Broken". This game should be Solid, not "Rock Solid" as this is a "Long Haul" Title.....just to where Core Functions are stabilized, "Fairplay" in terms of Counter-Play, & Risk vs Reward (IE: Vehicle Pricing) are at acceptable levels.. New Maps & such are nice "Fluff" & all, but without a Core we are only putting whipped cream on a donut.[/b][/quote]
CCP is limited by the number of devs they have on this. Again, they are not like DICE or the other companies with several hundred developers working on one project. And they do need to eat and sleep at some point.
Edit: War is also not fair. If it was no one would ever win. |
