The first CoD was a good game when it came out. The complaint about CoD is that it has not changed with each release but obviously it has improving game play and graphics with each release and the addition of content. Yet somehow Dust 514 which copied CoD's lobby shooter game play will be different because it will not have episodic improved releases and will literally be the same game in the same universe with the same characters we have now 10 years from now. And Dust will be iterated upon just as EvE has. Eventually there will be every kind of vehicle, suit and weapon possible. Larger and more varied maps. More planets to fight on then anyone can count. Each with it's own varied terrain of hills, valleys, crevices, and mountains. Fully explorable buildings with multiple rooms and hallways. Along with various different changes to game play possibilities. Having it set up the way it is now is just easiest to work with. Rome wasn't built in a day and while CCP does have some developers that worked for DICE and a few other companies that had a hand in making BF and COD variants the vast majority of CCPs people have probably never made a FPS. Also they're working with unfamiliar code since they have both a mix of Carbon and Unreal being used. Quote: And Dust will be iterated upon just as EvE has.
That is my point. They very thing CCP fan boys criticize CoD for is the same thing they praise Dust for....of course the CoD developers have actually executed those "iterations" while CCP with Dust has not....They are being praised for stuff they may or may not do in some unknown future time span.
Iterated on by adding new maps, graphics and effects yes. But, those developer companies also sell their product at 60plus dollars an iteration. And you end up with a new one every what, 6 to 8 months. Hell, by the time they get a new one out they already have announced the one that's replacing it. That's not including all the DLC map packs they throw in to boot that you pay another 30 or 40 dollars for each in between. Of course those companies are also sickeningly rich, and have several thousand people working for them. CCP has less then 300 developers between all their projects, and they can somehow afford to not only not charge for the game, but give out free expansions and iterations on top of that. And when was the last time any game company that has made BF or COD games ever asked for advice or even added players' ideas to their games??? [/quote]
