What's that term people use......
Hipster?
There is a reason CoD is the most succesful FPS on the market. But if you want to hate on it because you can't handle it....
Then I have only this to say... Eat **** loser.
Take any and EVERY FPS ever made to date, and compare it to CoD. And you will proabably, if you don't let your ****** mentality get in the way, Realize that CoD has more depth, better controls, better maps, more players, more weapons, more options than ALL OF THEM!
What does Counter Strike have that CoD doesn't? What does Wolfenstein have that CoD doesn't? What does Halo have that CoD doesn't? What do any of them have?
Whatever you may come up with, CoD has done it... and did it better.
Let's look at what other FPS's have.... A lower player count? Stupid playlists that mix slayer gametypes into each and every playlist making every playlist a team slayer playlist? Or maybe playlist called Action Sack, which the community tries to explain is a perfect substitute for server browsers and custom gaming?
Hating on CoD makes you look stupid. It does not make you cool, it does not make you smart.... IT MAKES YOU LOOK STUPID!
Especially when most of you don't even have a reason to hate on it other than... It stays very much the same game as the last with every itteration.
I wonder why?!?!?!?!
Because you don't fix what aint broke! That is why it stays the same and ever so slowly improves with each one.
What the hell do you want out of CoD? For them to turn it into an RTS instead? Then it will no longer be CoD at that point.
If a game like Dust with it's ******** timesink is what classifies as innovation in the FPS arena.... You're mental.
I'm actually glad that Dust is failing. Because I want it to send a message to other devs on what not to do. Which is pretty much everything.
The timesink The bland maps The oversized maps The amount of vehicles The amount of time it takes to kill The amount of teamwork required to enjoy yourself
Everything about this game is a fail. |

Honestly....
I'm gonna to say it again.
Why does dust even give you control of your character?
If they are so hell bent on making Dust play like EvE. They should just give you a window with a list of targets. Let you pick one, and watch the battle unfold automatically. Because that, is pretty much going to be the final outcome of what idiots like you want out of an FPS. |

Hey Eos, give me moar of your CoD fanboi tears!! It fuels my internet spaceship.
You think these are tears?
You're about as clueless as they come.
It's more akin to laughter. Laughing at the fools who hate on CoD for whatever lame reason you come up with.
"It's mindless!" So is every other FPS ever made then
"It's a bunch of Rambo's running around like Chickens with their heads cut off!" So is every other FPS ever made.
The little bit that I played of Dust, felt just like playing with the Rambo Chickens from CoD. The only difference was the extremely bland and oversized maps.... and the god awful timesink.
Like I said before, just because you happen to spawn in next to a teammate doesn't suddenly make your game more team oriented.
I see more teamwork in a game like CoD than I do in most other FPS games I have ever played, and I've played quite a few.
Just to give you a clue. I've been playing FPS online since 14.4k modems were still a thing. You know what a BBS is?
Dust doesn't bring anything special to the table. Other than a community of self-entitled elitest who think they are cool because they like a game that sucks balls.
If CoD decided to adopt the "RPG Mechanics" of Dust, it would fail horribly. Because that kind of depth is a fake shallow attempt at simulating depth. And this is taking into account that CoD has the core mechanics of FPS nailed down. It doesn't really get any better than what they have as far as smooth fluid control of your character goes.
If you really... REALLY, think CoD is nothing but Rambo's running around everywhere... I welcome you to play against me and my crew. We'll show you what map control and teamwork can accomplish in that game. Sure, you Rambo types might get a few kills against us... but that is the games way of keeping you interested while we dominate you at the gametype. And that's why CoD is better than everything else out there. Because even when your getting your ass handed to you. You can still have fun and feel like you are able to compete. Instead of being in a game where the best option is to just AFK or Quit, which is what Dust is shooting for.
Who the hell wants to play an FPS in which AFK'ing or quitting becomes the standard, because the **** poor game mechanics? |

And I think this bears repeating.
With what you are attempting to do with dust.......
Players should not be in direct control of their characters. It doesn't fit the overall design of what you are trying to turn this game into.
Maybe let players 2x-click on the screen to head in that direction, but other than that.... |

Maybe let players 2x-click on the screen to head in that direction, but other than that.... I've played CoD. I don't even particularly like FPS. There's no reason for someone who doesn't even like FPS to go 31/2. Seriously, it's not like I even have FPS skills or anything. I can't "360 no scope" or whatever, I can only shoot people. I didn't use noob tubes because of the stigma that creates (And my desire to be cool and blame my deaths on noob tubes when I DID in fact die) I just ran around and shot first. The difference between DUST and CoD isn't much, but DUST will (Some day) have depth apparently. You'll be fighting in wars alongside vast galactic empires (allegedly) and you'll cause people to lose "X" thousand dollars in ISK (Someday) In CoD...Well...That's all you get isn't it?
So what your saying is that eventually... Depth in Dust will eventually equate to how much time you can steal from other players?
THAT IS NOT DEPTH!
OMG, it took me years to build up my ISK... just to lose it.
Where in that do you see depth?
Because they try to make you care about losing, suddenly makes a game have depth. No. |

Then what?
And when you realize that even after unlocking everything so quickly... that the game still has enough to keep players playing....
Then what?
How can a game like CoD who's game hasn't changed much. Since MW1.... kept a playerbase larger than EvE?
I would think that a game with no depth to it.... would fall flat on it's face after 1 week... wouldn't it? |

You're not seeing this - You're fighting for something. More than your LolKD ratio. I mean, if that's what you care about, you still have that option in DUST, but at the same time, you have politics and other things hanging over you. You're immersed in a galaxy of conflict. You ARE the conflict, the heroes, the thieves, the mercs and so on.
While this hasn't been implemented yet (Apparently soonTM lol) in DUST, it will...Never be in CoD, will it?
So, all I have to do when I play COD, is imagine that I am part of a greater conflict..... done
What else you got?
Oh yeah, the politics part......
Let's Play "Facebook"
I can easily create political tension between me and the players I play with just by being a ****. Done..

Playing against XXSuckyBaalzXX is completely different than playing against Me. Stuff like SP systems, and timesinks that make you wait forever to get to a competitive level,..... just get in the way of the "REAL DEPTH" because it is ez mode and makes every player feel like they are good regardless of how much they suck. Go on youtube, there are videos of people finishing story missions on the hardest difficulty without firing a single bullet
And I assume you're mad because some noob figured that out before you did. Mad because you watched someone who made a youtube video of themselves playing the Single player portion of the game.
What's my name?
Because you can't be me. |

ADHD kids and infantry which cant deal with vehicles will all **** off, im fine with it Another blind Dust follower. BF4 has WAY better vehicles than Dust 514's. Also BF4 is not 3.5. At least BF4 is looking to be polished in a LOT less time than Dust will be. Yeah because BF4 looks so different from BF3. Now you can blow up skyscrapers. Thats worth $60 plus a next gen console. Face it, its Battlefield 3.5. Perhaps if Dice was smart and announced 2143 I would feel different. But 4 just looks bad.
To be honest, Both games suck at vehicles. Vehicles are cool, when they are RARE! BF3.... there's vehicles EVERYWHERE Halo lately has started saturating their big team battle vehicle maps.
Vehicles are great and very important. BUT!
To put it too you as simply as I can.
When vehicles play more than 50% of the role in combat.... It's no longer an FPS.
In Halo CE. The most classic epitome of what Halo is about... was Blood Gulch, CTF with only 2 warthogs on the map. What you need to note of what made it so ******* awesome... was that it had MINIMAL vehicles. But enough to make things interesting. Which means the foot soldier, the main reason people play an FPS at all (or at least should be the main reason) still plays a part.
BF gets this part wrong And as I said, Halo now gets that part wrong as well.
Big.... HUGE.... maps suck ballz. The only way they couldn't possibly suck so much ballz... is to increase the player count on the map. Not by adding more vehicles.
Is Twisted Metal, considered an FPS? I don't think so. |

I would much rather play a game that at least allows me to enjoy it regardless of the skill levels and time investment of my opponents. CoD doesn't need some **** poor wannabe behind the scenes math equation trying to match skill levels in order for all the players involved to enjoy themselves. And that's why you are stupid for hating on CoD. Because CoD is fun for everyone regardless of skill levels and time investment. Which is what gaming is all about. Having fun at every conceivable moment during your time with that game. Also, having fun regardless of if your friends are available or not. I do not need my friends to be online in order to enjoy myself at CoD. I might not win very many games that way, but I can at least still enjoy the time I spend in the game. If I wanted to play a job, I'd go to work and actually make money for my time. lol COD fanboi I admit that COD does take skill, but it seems to rely more on connection speeds than anything else, which is why I can't really play more than 2 matches in a row I don't understand how CoD takes skill. I have no (literally) FPS skill and I still stomped people who claimed to be so "Leet" it's hard to be skillful when it takes only 2 bullets to kill you.
Now.... pay attention.
CoD isn't all about shooting.
It's about being in the right place at the right time. Guarding the proper angles. Calling out to your team when you lose your angle. Letting them know that the flanks are open. etc.
There is more teamwork there than you realize.
But go ahead and keep thinking your cool cause you want to be a hipster who hates on CoD because you can't hack it.
The more likely scenario is that you are an idiot than runs around like a chicken with your head cut off, getting killed by people who know how to integrate teamwork into their gameplay. Which is why you get mad. Because you'd rather play a game that allows you a little bit of freedom to run around like an idiot.
In CoD, if you run around like an idiot. you die. QUICKLY.
In a game like Dust, Halo, and any other shooter that requires more than 2 bullets. You can run around like an idiot, because the game gives you so much time to recover from your idiocy, it's ********.
The longer it takes and the more bullets it takes to kill in an FPS game. The less skillful that game actually is. You just have to stop being a ****** to see it. |

Oooh...Someones a little mad. Did I touch a nerve, sting you a bit? Yeah, I'm not even a big FPS guy and in most of those random pubs I absolutely demolished the competition. I'm bad at FPS games, and do well in CoD. I suck at Planetside 2, Halo, Battlefield but for some reason, my lack of skill isn't a big deal in CoD...Wonder why that is...You think about it, and get back to me when you have an answer. Don't worry, I'll wait.
I did think about it.
Planetside 2 sucks Halo sucks Battlefield sucks.
I don't see what your point is?
You know why you do better in a game like CoD compared to those?
Because Lag interferes less.
The longer it takes to kill, the more lag decides the outcome of the battle.
The chances of you... by yourself, pulling host in those games.. IS slim.
In CoD, it doesn't matter if you are host. You just have to be in the right place at the right time.
In other words, Map knowledge and knowing how the enemy is going to maneuver plays a bigger role than thumb agility.
And as I said previsouly, thumb agility is only part of the equation of skill in an FPS.
Nothing is stupider than an FPS in which you get the drop on someone and lose the battle because they in fact had a better connection. That is what happens in a game that requires you to empty entire clips into a person to kill them. The longer it takes to kill someone. The more lag decides who the victor is. And unfortunately for you, you probably were not the best connection in the room for those other games. |
