Damn you CCP! The AR (Blaster/Plasma Rifle) is supposed to be short range only and I would say it's pretty close for this job, if not spot on.
However, for a weapon that's supposed to be mid-to-long range, the Scrambler Rifle has very little range.
Proto AR optimal: 42 meters. Proto AR effective: 71 meters.
Proto ScR optimal: 50 meters. Proto ScR effective: 87 meters.
That's hardly a difference at all, and honestly, a 50 meter optimal range for a mid-to-long range weapon is insulting to me. The ScR needs more range.
The Combat Rifle is a short-to-mid range weapon and will, looking at the current AR/ScR ranges, have something like 45 meters optimal and 80 meters effective range which is also insulting. |

So I take it Wolfmans gunna change all the SMGs that are breach to long range low rate of fire SMGs? The Rail Rifle will be long range, yes.
For all I know they will rebalance the Breach AR into a longer ranged weapon. Or keep it as it is. Or even remove it entirely.
They aren't going to just copy the Breach AR numbers onto the Rail Rifle and call it a day. The Rail Rifle is being built from the ground with the longer range in mind. It will operate similar to the Breach AR, meaning it will likely be a slow firing weapon with high damage, while having long range.
Also keep in mind that the Breach AR is trying to mimic the Rail Rifle and maybe it couldn't be made into a long range weapon based on the Gallente technology. |
