Your natural instinct would be to say, "but it takes more skill if you have to manually guide them to your target". I completely agree. Though...
One of the things that many vehicles do in an effort to lose swarms is to go around buildings and pillars. Also many dropships and LAV's tend to out run them. They can out run them even if they are fired in front of the vehicle, this is because Swarm launchers are programmed to track fast vehicles from behind, instead of simply attacking the front.
With manual guidance, I could simply hit the front of a vehicle without the necessity of wasting time attacking the back. Not to mention I could simply avoid many obstacles like hills and corners by making the Swarms go over them, instead of them smashing into them because they are between the Swarm and its' target. I would actually welcome laser guided swarms, as I believe it is always a good thing for weapons to take more skill to use. Unfortunately, I believe vehicle users would not receive them warmly.
In short, it would make hitting vehicles easier, since you could manually adjust them to avoid cover and make them attack the front of vehicles instead of the back. |

Am I the only one that thinks swarms should be player guided and still have the 400m range? |

In short, it would make hitting vehicles easier, since you could manually adjust them to avoid cover and make them attack the front of vehicles instead of the back. they pretty much avoid cover as it is with the whole ghost trail following. w/ laser guidance it would be a big hit to the RoF that they just doubled w/ 1.4 and it would then actually take some skill rather then fire and forget. you also forget they get a 10x speed bonus once within 30m of the vehicle at any given time. so even if the SL fires and the LAV run past those missiles are now 10x faster w/ perfect turning abilities so they can do a 180 and are faster then normal. |
