To be competitive against specialized prototype users, we need to also specialize, but we don't have the full set of items to choose from, therefore to stay competitive we have to spec into dropsuits, vehicles, and weapons we otherwise would not want. Its not the player's fault that you guys didn't give us a full set to choose from, so its unfair to make us stick with these decisions.
For example, my little brother has yet to specialize into a light weapon, he's been waiting for the combat rifle since May 6. He is being smart by waiting instead of just dumping SP into the AR since we won't be able to undo such decisions (as far as I know), but that puts him at a serious disadvantage against players who have prototype weapons.
In light of this, find a way to add the full set of racial items (weapons, vehicles, and dropsuits) sooner rather than later, starting at 1.6 maybe.
If a respec is secretly planned for when the full set of dropsuits, "assault" rifles, and current vehicle types arrive, then just announce it already so players will know its safe to specialize. |

I have a feeling we won't get any new racial stuff until the next major expansion (i.e. not Uprising) which should line up around EVE's winter expansion. |

unannounced != unplanned I recall them stating no respecs are planned when asked about it. I could be mistaken, but like I said if they secretly plan on giving respecs then it should be announced so players waiting know its safe to specialize into something else instead of getting stomped. |

They said no respecs will be given unless there is a big change in the skill tree, like there was before when the requirements to unlock dropsuit roles was decreased from Basic Frame 5 to Basic Frame 3 and such. I'm not sure if adding the remainder racial suits qualifies as a big change in the skill tree, but I hope so. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if CCP is waiting until they have all the remaining racial dropsuits and vehicles finished before releasing any, that way they can do one final respec instead of many each time.
I do agree though that CCP should give a firm stance on what they plan to do once these suits and vehicles are released. |

The AR will always be the 'base' light weapon. Much like the SMG for handhelds. Tell your bro to stop dallying and put some points in it. |

+1 to this, well-reasoned. I suggest a preliminary/stop-gap fix: if CCP really can't manage to get the actual variants out, just give us the appropriate skills and clone the existing items within that item class/type. For example, insert all rail-combat-assault rifle skills and have actual in-game guns, for now, be exact clones of the AR, variants and all. Then CCP can gradually hotfix/point-patch in the correct stats and models and such. Now do the same thing for all the missing suit variants, as in throw in all the racial heavy skill trees but just make them use the current Amarr heavy suits and stats for now. Alternately, provide just one global respec, at Dust 2.0 or whenever all racial variants are out. That would also be fine. |

Take it from me, no respecs will be announced until they are announced. |
