there arent. you are stuck with a railgun that fires a couple feet below your reticule, missile launchers that go everywhere but where you are aiming, and blasters with hit detection about as bad as shotguns. happy hunting |

I'd love some heat reduction skills, myself. Maybe a fitting optimisation skill? No? |

actually, blaster hit detection is pretty spot on, the other two turrets def have their issues tho. for instance, firing the large rail only to have nothing come out......repeatedly...... |

Here is my advice. I prefer to tank with Rail Guns.
Like all DUST target systems there is a Pip (white dot) in the center of the reticule when in First Person Mode. When the Pip is Red (orange-ish to me) you have a projected hit. The targeting information will let you know range, targets shield/armor and your efficiency. The view is switched between third and first with R3. Third person targeting is quite a bit different and I only use it for close to short-medium targets. Anything past that requires precision and that means First Person Tanking.
Firing the gun is similar to an Assault Forge Gun; Hold the trigger until the weapon spools up and Bang! Damage occurs. If You Hit Anything. When a target is at a long range (300m+) you might or might not have problems seeing it correctly. The graphics can leave it unclear the further out it is. When firing at Anything aim slightly up and to the left. But the Pip must still be Red.
How to hit things:
First the documentation regarding the speed of the Rail Gun projectile is BS. You can watch a Rail Gun round travel so the 2500KPH is not happening. Which means targets going left or right need to be lead. Just like duck hunting, if ducks carried guns and wanted to kill you. This is less of an issue when the target is heading in a straight line.
LAV are fast but the drivers are bad, mostly. Some are good and those are more difficult. However, even the good driver will get caught between things, hit a wall or flip the vehicle and everyone Has to turn a corner. When ever the LAV is driving straight at or away from your Rail Gun they can be easily hit.
Drop Ships are slowish but can vary altitude as well. However, they need to take off, land, turn, hover and deploy troops. Aiming at the center of the DS can kill Gunners. Hitting one end can flip it or nearly so. A bad pilot will crash soon afterwards normally. Leading a DS is even more important, although I really don't know why. I just know I have to add lead when hunting them.
Infantry is fun. But they are a very small target which gets even worse to hit the further away they are. The Pip is your friend, make it happy with a little Red and pop that sucker. If you are having trouble getting kills, aim at their feet. It will strip the shields of almost everyone out there with Splash Damage. Note that Blasters are better at splash damage when Reds are hiding close by. When Rail Gun Sniping you should practice covering an Objective (Lettered Null Cannon). With proper placement and targeting it will be very difficult for the Reds to actually get it hacked. These do take practice.
I have been killing Infantry for some time while Rail Guns. Targeting their head grants 195% efficiency. If you get a head shot (rare) they vaporize ... poof gone. Otherwise they fly some distance and turn to ash. Both are fun and pay the same +50WP. Same as killing a CRU with a dozen or more rounds. Just saying.
Also, you can hit targets that you cannot see. Fun. How you ask? Well, learn the maps. That Turret you were using in the ground spawn on the other side Is Still There. Depending on the map you might or might not be able to see it. Once again the Pip is your friend. Slowly search where you think it should be and if the Pip turns Red. Give it a round. If you get a hit you will see a Red Cross Hair briefly. An 1100HP damage RG should pop a Turret in four rounds. Three with a slightly better Rail Gun on your end. If you fire five rounds and didn't get any points then you are missing the target. Try aiming up and left for these as well. Beware that some obstructions are difficult to see at distance. Move your Tank to a better position and try again.
Sometimes Rail Guns will not do any damage nor give targeting information, even for targets that are well within the draw distance cut off limit. Aim at anything else and fire a round. If you see the familiar explosion of your round the Rail Gun will now work, switch back to your target and kill it.
Beware when operating LRGT Installations that many Forge Gunners use Breach FGs. They can and will pop that LRGT (any turret for that matter) in Two Hits. Bail out after the first hit.
Good Luck. |

No skills
Only way you can imporve is with modules and they only effect things like damage/fire rate/turning speed/heat build up and spool time
We have no skills to reduce the fitting requirments, or a prof to increase the damage even further |
