You know, I've come to somewhat enjoy Large Missile Turrets, but not because they are awesome. No they are awful, and at times upsetting. But I have recently forced myself into using them nonetheless.
Though the main reason I like them Lower PG draw
Which means I can use the best mitigation modules available to me. Running 2 15% PG mods, I can even equip proto rider turrets, along with an advanced Large Missile Turret. Dropping down a peg on my Shield extender or Booster allows me to use a proto missile. So I wouldn't lose much mitigation.
The second reason I like them Decent Range
Speaking from an ingame perspective, those things shoot pretty damn far. Blasters are rated for like 150m and missiles at 250m. It's a ways out there. Using fragmented missiles, I've found I can kill infantry, takes many volleys to get it right, but I kill some. And sometimes I kill a lot. Very iffy though.
This is where I dislike the missiles. I can do well against infantry with them, but these things are meant for breaking through armor. 2 volleys from an advanced missiles will destroy a turret. Though I really struggle killing madies with these. Well fit madies with all the right mitigation, eats them like candy. And they do bonus damage to armor, right?
So using my range to my advantage, I see my enemy tank, I know where he is going and I think ok, got this. I run with a speed booster, so I kick it on, my target just crests the hill, shootin time. Backing up, he gets closer. I keep firing off volleys, some missiles hitting, lot of missing. Starting to panic, he's getting closer and closer, he's faster then me. A blaster melts my shields into goo. My shields keep ticking down, my heal is up, but the blaster is too much for it. I keep moving back and back, still firing. Nope he got me.
Whats up with them? I'm not an awful player, I was using the accelerated version, had my plan all laid out, excuted perfectly, but man that maddie ate my missiles and then **** them out in nice perfectly formed dicks, then rammed up my no no hole.
Usually when I see a maddie, I call in my rails to deal with it. Though since I've been using missiles, I figured I might as well lose one for testing purposes. It's ok my armor tanking partner arrived late (the *******) and finished him in like 3 seconds. I felt very ashamed of myself.
I want, single fire missiles. Or a lower count per volley( thinking 3) and a much tighter spread, coupled with a slightly faster rate of fire and a damage bump per missile. They are just very unreliable compared to their counterparts, blasters and rails. And given that they have a 100M range over blasters, at range it's more a spray and pray type of situation.
I've done very well with missiles. But I've had too many maps where I couldn't hit anything infantry wise save for a million assists from weak splash damage.
Oh well, sticking with them. I've made them my new b**ch |

Beld Errmon wrote:Currently shield vs armour tanks is very unbalanced, the maddie eats your damage because he has longer lasting and more powerful reps and resists, its also faster than you at top speed, so unless your line of retreat involves a lot of corners or some steep hills that won't work either.
In 1.5 things will get rebalanced and no doubt shield tanks will be the better platform its usually how CCPs balance hammer swings, till then i'd recommend you armor tank instead, you can get some interesting fits using missiles on an armor tank.
No I know, but I'm not one to give up on them. Always looking for a way to break them. Ran around in my buddies blaster tank, loved it. Getting my skills for armor to match my shields is taking a while.
Though I was considering getting my skills up for the enforcer just to test one out. An extra low slot = a bit more power.
Been waiting for a while now! Looking forward to a Missiles change, supposed to be the caldari's baby.

Noc Tempre wrote:Once upon a time missiles were awesome. Game-breakingly so. Then some idiot decided RBS would fix it. When that only made them skill-less, but still broken powerful, an endless stream of nerfs began. Ultimately, the shield tank and it's missile turret were destroyed. Not fit even for anti-infantry.
It is sad, though I will still run them because I lose far far fewer of them. Namely from people just ignoring me. |

Yeah, perhaps I should spec into MD with Flux, and just use my tank as a meat shield. Oh blueberries. Blueberries. Oh you blueberries. I hate you blueberries.
It takes me all this sp to make a vehicle awesome. And you steal it, and destroy it.
When you fit up your dropsuit, do you have to call it in and wait. no Can I crawl into you dropsuit and leave you with 1/1 shield and armor. I want to When you take my tank It's like you kicked me in the balls Ripped my dropsuit off of me And drapped it over your dropsuit as a trophy. yeah blueberries, I hate you With all my heart and soul With and undying passion I hate you
Burn you blueberries. I'm going to eat your goddamn souls you useless F***S.
I'm cool with the cool blueberries btw, you help me out, you can leach all the kills you want:) |
