The war is not a lie. It's exactly what it's been explained to be since the beginning: Something to do.
This game is boring. There's a huge unnecessary grind to get anything. We need stuff to do. The only people who seem to really give a **** about PC are all in EoN, and EoN doesn't seem interested in fighting amongst themselves. So, if people want stuff to do, we have to make up reasons to do them.
So sure, The Cake is A Lie. You've heard it here, directly from a Subdreddit Director. The "cake" however, is that anyone actually gives a **** about EoN or how much space they hold in PC. That's the lie. We just want a reason to shoot at things, because instant battles and FW are getting really, really long in the tooth.
If everybody gets bored with PC and this "war," then uh... we'll stop. Right now, a bunch of semi-casual players have a reason to log in and mess around in PC, and for many this is their first time trying it out. Isn't that what the tryhard corps want? More people in PC? |

If I was playing Landscaping 514 and the point of the game was to mow lawns, yeah, I'd mow the lawns myself. Otherwise, instead of going to the hassle of paying someone else to play the game for me I could, y'know, just skip playing altogether. |

Sure, do things your way, but I'll still call you a nerd for it. It's like paying someone else to play your WoW account for you. Sure, you're gaining benefits in the game, but hey, you don't really play the game anyway so what's the damn point?
It's no different than AFkers. Why are you bothering at all, if you're not actually playing? You're just gaining resources for a game you don't care about enough to actually play.

If I played Spreadsheets In Space I might. This is Dust 514, why the **** would I care about what some guys in some other video game are doing? How is that hypocritical?

Same as above. Two separate games. I'm in TEST as a result of being in Subdreddit, not the other way around. Maybe in 5 years what the spreadsheet warriors are doing will have some sort of impact on this game, but right now it's wholly and entirely irrelevant.
I also know people from Reddit who play BF3, WoW, LoL, Dota 2, Minecraft, etc, etc. You want to discuss how those people are doing in those games too?
