It may require nerfing all other suit speeds instead. We sprint pretty fast as it is nearly surpassing some of the world's greatest athletes and unlike those athletes we're carrying a 14lb gun, a 200+ armor suit with reactor and a couple 3-5 lb grenades. and possible some 10 lb deployables. So basically, no? And unlike athletes, Scouts are wearing suits designed to enhance their mobility. Not even the Gallente Scout has a base of 200HP. This thread is about Scouts, not medium frames.
IWS has a point. We're likely pushing Dust's performance limits when we hit high speeds. Aeon's hitbox displacement test offered as evidence. If we're up against engine limitations, slowing down the Medium Frame is the only way to accomplish a meaningful speed gap between Scouts and non-Scouts. Bojo just posted an excellent thread on the topic:

We shouldn't be fast enough dodge bullets (i.e. Chromosome) or flicker in/out on-screen. We should be fast enough to get out of harms way. And we should be faster by comparison, so a Scout could widen the gap between himself a medium-frame in pursuit.
Speed gap settled, we also need to be harder to hit. As of 1.2, we're too dang easy to mow down.
Problem: A Scout zigzagging at 9-10 m/s shouldn't fall in 1/2 a second to a Duvolle AR (at 50 meters out). We're a hit-and-run breed, and being a bullet magnet often makes escape impossible. And that's without Aim-Assist.
Solution: A fast-moving target's hitbox should be slightly in front of him (and not dragging somewhere behind him). This will solve the matter of dying after reaching cover. A substantial reduction to Scout hitbox size is likely warranted, especially with Aim Assist around the corner.
Problem: The same goes for AoE evasion vs Forge Guns and Mass Drivers; like the Flaylocks before them, there's little need to aim, much less lead, a fast-moving target with these weapons.
Solution: Follow the path of the Flaylock. The gun's still highly effective, but post-blast-radius-nerf you actually have to try to hit things with it.
That's my two cents.

CCP Wolfman wrote:We know the scouts need some love. We did not give them any in 1.4. Sorry about that but there's always more work than time. We are planning to give them hugs in 1.5/6. I can't be specific regarding time yet because there are some new features involved and we're not sure exactly where they will land yet.
Ouch. No TacNet love? |

Thanks for the feedback, IWS. Wolfman's bad news isn't new news; we've known since his Armor thread that Scout Love wasn't on the table 'til 1.5 or 1.6.
That said, we've been super hopeful for the TacNet overhaul. It'd bring us back into the game in more ways than one. You reference "Stealth" above, but you also say "soon" ... how deeply I have learned to hate this innocuous word.
I'm sure by now you know exactly what's coming. Might I ask if we Scouts should abandon all hope for 1.4? |

Now I'm perplexed. I assume you refer to the Commando. I'll bet you $10 ISK the Commando Community's average KDR is better than 2.0. There may be fewer of them than us, but I suspect we Scouts are unrivaled in the "worst suit in game" running.
