Being that BF4, COD, Blacklight and Killzone are coming in 85 days on PS4, by the time Planetside 2 comes in December, will Dust have any players left? If so will Planetside 2 take the rest of the player base to Auraxis?
Question being.......Will PS2 on PS4 be the absolute death blow to CCP's MMOFPS, Dust514? |

Probably not. Two different markets (PS4 owners and PS3 owners) so...No. Then you have some who aren't even moving to PS4 (Me, PC Master Race) So no, it won't be the death of it, but the population will slowly dwindle as the PS4/XB1becomes more and more affordable to some, and the holidays roll around, so more people get it and so on, and so forth. |

If Dust players really wanted to play Planetside 2, they can already do it... RIGHT NOW. The fact they don't says it all. It's like asking if Dust will lose players to World of Warcraft. |

CCP is gonna have to release some magical updates if they want to retain what little playerbase they have left. Then again, at least there won't be so many whiners clogging up the forums.
Dust will probably keep chugging along. Maybe more players will return after they get bored of their fancy new games and CCP turns Dust into something worth coming back to.
I'll still be here, ginding my cap each week and playing PC. PS2, BF4, and Destiny aren't all that interesting to me. I'll play them a bit but not like I play Dust. I think the only game that might fully replace Dust for me will be Star Citizen but that's a few years off. |

PS2 on PS4 could ruin Dust but I've seen PS4's horrible latency issues in PC gameplay. If those issues occur on the PS4 then I don't know how many players will play PS2 for long. Some of those youtube vids demonstrating PS2's lag are pretty extreme. I don't know that I've seen worse. |

This. Lol Planetside 2 doesn't even get as much hype as Dust 514 gets around the web. Of course a lot of this comes from the fact that it's connected to New Eden and shares some of the harsh world's qualities, without even being legit connected, it's still better off. |

How many people have a beefed up pc ($1200) to run PS2 at its max settings? Not many.
How many will have a ps4 with ps2 maxed out for only $400! Oh yes $400 for what takes at least $800 pc to run max settings. So yes the reason PS2 is not that populated at this time on certain servers is because its 8 months old and not many have the $$ to upgrade there pc when ps4 comes in 85 days.
So oh yes the PS2 on PS4 will definitaly be the fatal blow.

A lot of the is also a bunch of bad reviews. In my facebook gaming group we essentially had a bash session of games none of us enjoyed. DUST was the 4th game we bashed. |

You don't have to be a Dust "fanboi" to think Planetside 2 is crap. I can think Dust is lacking and name all sorts of other games that are also crappy. I'd wager there are more people with PCs than can run Planetside 2 than there will be people with PS4s anytime this year.
Also, people buy game consoles for exclusives, etc. There's little to no reason to buy one at launch when the line-up is horrible. You know what has more traction? A PC? That's part of why they cost more - they can do more.
Besides, you don't need a PC that can run PS2 at max setting to play PS2 - that's downright idiotic. Do you seriously think everytime a new game comes out that pushes the performance limits on PCs that people ditch their current rig and buy all new stuff? No, they run it with a few sliders unmaxed. It's like... logic or something. Being able to play a glossy version of PS2 in the fall won't change the fact the game is shite anymore than if Dust showed up on the PS4 at launch.
The only "fanboi" is the guy who bothers to repeatedly troll the board of another game with mentions of a game anyone could already play if they wanted to. You might as well be the Runescape bomber for all the sense it makes. |

either way.. like or hate it PS2 will get a spike when it comes to ps4. dust will still be on ps3. and one of those games has gotten panned by almost every review, while the other has gotten praise. |

I doubt it. The PS4 offers few things that make it different. There will be people who buy it day one thinking that next gen is going to blow the current generation out of the water. The games will look similar to they do now and play exactly the same as they have for the past five years.
There is 90 million PS3 and I don't think a majority of them are going to be trashed just because of the four. These games are different and appeal to different types of gamers.
Destiny might have PvP.
Gtav is a 16v16 world that is only persist any to those 32 players (it may only be 16 total, I am working off memory) and only those 32 players.
I haven't heard anything or seen anything about planet side two that makes me want to play it. To be honest dust is the only place I ever hear about PS2. Now where else.
Your posts are old and tired. Your points are weak and can't hold water. Please stop. It is a waste of everyone's time. I don't want to say it but go play PS2, stay there and play it till the servers die. It will not matter to me or anyone else if you stop posting. Let us play our game and you play yours.

Agreed. As I said in another post a while ago, these are the guys that did EVE. EVE has translated through 10 YEARS of upgrades, hardware changes, etc. and the same game is still going. I'm pretty damn sure that they thought of PS4 when they launched Dust, and I'm sure that they have every intention of moving it over. Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe the ENTIRE ps3 run is still nothing more than an extended Beta, with PS4 being the real game? That this is just a stripped down version, and a chance for them to iron all the kinks out, so when they move to PS4 they'll already have an established player base? So when this game, coupled with Valkyrie, and Dust, will just become THE mega MMO of all time, covering every possible genre and facet of the EVE universe? Literally, a complete world where you can do anything, be anything.
Have faith...if nothing else, look at EVE's track record. It's easy to beat up on CCP, but in the end, they always seem to get it right. |

Speaking about Planetside 2, I give it a try sometimes ago, and I was amaze about this game - at beginning - then I realize that to buy new weapon for in-game cash I have to spend hundreds of hours on it, and suddenly it stopped being funny any more. Then I discover that taking enemy hex with your well-organize team of people is meaningless, because when you leave point you just took and move to another objective in another hex, some lonely wolf can come back to hex you just took and retake it without fight - at this point whole fighting for hex concept of the game stopped have sense for me.
In EVE you can fight for someones solarsystem/constellation/region, it may take to months to achieve it, a lot of efforts, wasted nights after with one you look like zomby in job, but when finally you took that ******* objective, log off for 24hr, then log in - it is still yours.
Thats why P2 suck. |

considering that all these games still are yet to be release gives CCP and edge to release new content and more updates. Even then, Retailed games rarely get updates or at least don't get them on a regular basis. The other Free to play games like PS2 and BL are considerable good looking games with a lot of promise but again, Dust is already out and has time to add more content to game.
But for Arguments sake lets say there is no new content for Dust and PS2 comes out. Well the roadmap for Dust is probably more likely longer than PS2 roadmap on Console. Also there is promises yet to be fulfilled and potential yet to be discovered, while PS2 has never been on Console which could cause bugs and problems for PS2 that no one could have predicted. There are a lot of angles to these topic but I can say most Dust Players with still continue to be Dust Players because we believe in the game and want more from our game.
Yes... The game is not up to par with our expectations but people still find themselves returning to dust continuously because they love the game and what it has to offer in the future. Its a New experience for FPS players since we are so use to paying 60 bucks and getting our game with fast gratification. Dust will be okay. |
