The build up to this war started 3 weeks after Eon and LOI signed a treaty I think. The reason I said I think is because at that time I was not in a corporation. The one I was in (One-arm bandits) broke up over corruption of power (remember this line for later). I joined Red Star because my friend TorGuE77 was in that corp and we normally squad up with one another. But what I didn't know was EON was in war with LOI.
Following the events after the war people were saying how good EON was for beating LOI and etc, it was all over the forums. And for sometime people wanted to join EON for power and protection within PC. Within those 3 weeks I was spectating the forums to see if people would do what I was expecting. As people heard some individuals in EON decided to give land to indie corps (which needs a serious re-definition of what it takes to be a so called indie corp) to give them a chance. I kinda knew where this was going and I disliked it but to only see my speculations to be true hurts. To add even more to the pain my speculations were also confirmed when people wanted to revolt against EON to the point where war would break out. But I need to keep in mind that this is planetary conquest and expect the unexpected.
At this time I wanted to ask a fellow mercenary by the name of DJINN Kujo for advice. I sent him a message to only see he himself was in PC. I wanted to ask him questions since he was playing longer than me, that and he's a really cool person to talk to. But he would have said something like you need to find that answer on your own. I even wanted to (but didn't) ask Rina Rylos for her take but she would had said you're a mercenary first and last (I respect that).
When this war is said and done with, what happens when a big power defeats another big power. They get bigger. Problem being is when they obtain more power corruption can follow right after. Over time people in that big power would become power hungry to the point where they want to be in control. Eventually, that power will fall apart.
What I am saying is this, no matter who wins the war the outcome will forever be the same. By this I need to run a scenario to explain. Say IF EON lost, then people want to go to the winning side as human nature expects it to be. For sometime people will respect that and want their corporation to join said alliance. However some back-hand deals and scams to give indie corps land may appear along with people in that winning alliance wanting majority control. The people doing this is eventually caught by others and people will want justice done for their misdeeds. The people wanting power will leave and revolt against them. Thus causing a loop/cycle.
As of now the world of PC is in a Loop/cycle where winners will be praised for sometime being but then have the world turn against them. No I'm not sour about people attacking EON, I'm actually happy that this is happening. If anything, the DUST community proved to me that people will fight for what they stand for.
I will be the person to say if we win, we win. It's whatever to me. If we lose then I tip my hat off to the people that beat us. Again it's whatever to me. If you see me or I see you on the battlefield then lets have a good fight.
10/10 would read again. I'm aware of such a cycle happening again and it does concern me but I'm hoping that with such a diverse gallery of corporations in the war on the "rebel" side, everything will be split up(and I don't mean orderly but as in no one's declared the actual "winner" just that there side won). But that's what I'm hoping for. I'm planning to help small corporations and any other corporations that rise from the ashes of this affair and get them to become specialized or niche-focused corporations instead of just land-grabbing clans(Honestly that's what most corporations are). It's to my belief that diversifying the mercenary market when this is all said and done will at least offer a different outcome.
Be careful tho. The elite gamers do not want diversification. They want their side stacked with the best, rightfully so because they want to win, and that is all they care about. But the imbalance caused will forever create your loop/cycle thingamabob you said above.
Have a nice day, good post by the way +1 |

If EON. was to topple then the corps attacking EON. Must never Unite, but that idea is REALLY STUPID because it will never happen. Corps will merge alliances once more and create power for them selves and the pattern continues. I agree with you Dj Grammer.
Alliances as they are setup in this game are the dubmest thing to ever grace the FPS 16v16 lobby shooter genre. Clans are one thing, as you will always have clan vs. clan action. Perhaps Alliances would have been a good idea to implement once this game was off to a booming start. But to allow it in a game with a 3-4k playerbase is dumb. really ******* dumb.
You want to talk about balance, because you all seem to think an imbalanced game is actually fun to play. Yes if you are on the stacked side, hellz ******* no if you arent. WIth a game this small, corporations should be severly limited to how many players they can hold. 25-50 TOPS. Once CCP actually takes the EvE **** out of their ass and realize the game model that worked for that game WONT work for this one, things might get better.
Whoever thought it was a good idea for the elite gamer douchebags to be able to join forces on one side to beat on the carebears and try to call the game "fun" is beyond retarted.
Carebears are the majority, CCP shunned them in this game. Yet most of you keep coming back hoping for some miracle to happen. Funny thing, carebears eventually turn into great players if they feel a game is worth playing for long enough. Everyone was a carebear/noob at one point. Time and dedication, or just pure skill at hand eye coordina tion, timing, whatever, eventually got you to where you are today. During that road, you probably became a bitter elitist at some point.
Listen, unless you break into EoN members homes and sabotage their PS3's or controllers, they will never break-up the imbalance they have created. To them, this is fun.. this is them "winning". If you were in there shoes would you feel any different? Most dont, some do.. and have joined the anti-EoN coalition. That is human nature at its finest, and quite frankly, its not fun. Thats why we leave the real world to join the virtual world in hopes of entertaiment. |
