Anyone got an opinion on it? Worth skilling into to? |

No way, not with the current workings. The scan radius is about 10m at the moment without range amplifiers. Unless someone is aiming at you, they won't detect you unless you move within ten meters. Additionally, if you are wearing a lighter dropsuit than the person you are sneaking up on, you are essentially untrackable on radar due to the scan profile/precision difference. |

I'm convinced that your scan profile is also affected by your actions; movement speed, weapon fired etc. I've been able to sneak up in plenty of people (even groups) as a Heavy, when I should be spotted a mile off, and get to the point where I can throw a Flux Grenade into said group and then open fire with a HMG before they realise I'm even there. |

I asked CCP about that after Uprising shipped and they said actions do not affect your profile... yet.

So either I somehow have a stealth Heavy, or the red dots are oblivious. Let's go with the latter. |

Right, because of the silly 10M scan radius. That's just a seriously useless distance. Even a Gal scout with mods can't take that base range and turn it into usefulness. As you said- even a heavy can "sneak" into perfect sneak-attack range, without any profile dampening at all. |

True, but I can get right up close. Point blank. So it's not just the 10M range. |

STD active scanners will pick up all medium and heavy suits without a dampener or dampening V. Stealth will be a more significant factor in 1.4. |

In the near future, you will see good reason for skilling into it. |
