Tanks have that little weak spot at the rear where you can get a decent load of extra damage on them with a well placed forge shot. Do LAVs have a similar weak spot and if so, where?
I had always presumed they'd be weak on the bottom but when a LLAV flipped over next to me yesterday, I let rip with my AV nades and they still did barely anything. If LAVs don't have a weakspot, they should and I think it should be the entire underside, so that if you're stupid enough to flip one, you're probably going to lose it. |

The entire LAV is supposed to be a weak spot; it's defense is supposed to be it's speed. |

It used to be true until some fcking genius at CCP thought it would be brilliant idea to give a fast vehicle the durability of a tank. |

The weak spot is the hood of the LAV. |

The weak spot is the hood of the LAV. Really? You'd think that the engineers would make the front of the vehicle the most armoured area because it's obviously most on show. The underside makes much more sense as a weakspot. |

Well generally if you see the hood of the LAV to be hitting you should be hoping not to miss or you will wind up a biological speed bump real quick. |

LAV weakpots:
Tested by walking around a vehicle and aiming at all positions...
The entire "bottom" of the LAV gives a small damage bonus (this is true for all ground vehicles, by the way), but this is really only exploitable when an RDV is dropping it.
The front "hood" of the AV between the headlights is a major weakspot. |

The front "hood" of the AV between the headlights is a major weakspot. Thanks for this info - exactly what I wanted to know.
In this case, I think the underside of an LAV should be a much greater weakspot than just a 'small damage bonus'. |

Micro reactors, breach the containment or screw up enough of the redundancy and the whole thing goes critical. |

I still think that the underside should be a worse weakspot though - flipping an LAV should pretty much mean the end of the vehicle unless you're lucky or far away from enemies with AV. |

LAVs are one of the old world (pre-clone soldier era) tech translated over for dust 514 soldiers, its an old proven design. Thus things like land mines are probably expected and its built up tougher to resist such but for the sake of operation is not built up as well as it could be.
HAVs are also another old world tech that was transferred over as well. |

yea they might should consider removing the ability to flip the llav back over, and i say this from the driver seat |

Edit - Thanks to Xocoyol Zaraoul for informing me that the underside is a slight weakspot and the major weakspot is between the headlights. However, I still think the underside should be a worse weakspot than it is. The weak spot is a CBR7 swarm launcher. You can take out a Charybdis in about 4-5 shots. Alot of shots, but it works. Oh, and proxy mines. |

Well depending on the tech level but likely capacitors are in the hood compartment as well along with other critical functions since it has the most room for it. |
