Despite the time difference offered by boosters, every player will eventually train up to the weapon of their choice given enough time. You may be able to reach 10 million SP sooner with boosters than I would without them, but I will eventually hit the 10 million SP mark as well.
And considering that I am without boosters, I would more encouraged to focus what little SP I currently have on core skills that can make even my low-level suits seem powerful. If you look at someone with boosters, those players are more than likely to spend their extra SP needlessly because they have more to work with.
It's like looking at guys eating chips. One eats his chips in small portions from a plate while other eats his chips straight from the bag. The one eating from the plate is more likely to be conservative because he has less to eat at one time while the other has a higher likelihood of emptying the bag in just one day or two because he has more in front of him and he probably won't notice it until he is half way done with the bag and then realizes he should have been more conservative.
Although I do agree with the author in that the game is currently not all that different from the others at the moment but it's important to note that CCP plans on expanding this game over time and fixing it as they go along. Now, that may seem like a very alien and unorthodox concept for many first-person shooters, but that's the way CCP wants it to be. In fact, if CCP were to try to finish the game in its entirety, it probably would have taken until 2015 before the game even comes out of closed beta.
CCP would have been better off taking their time with the game and releasing it on ps4 with a couple of more years of development than releasing it in its current state. Perhaps your 2015 release date would have been a smarter move all along. As a result, anything they may or may not fix in a couple of years may be too late as folks will have moved onto other things. Remember EVE was a PC strategy game and Dust is a FPS console game, they are two different games, same universe or not, that appeal to two different fan bases. I think CCP assumed too much based upon EVE and misread the console gamer market |
