So here we are with 1 of my suggestions Evolution Weapons. Getting straight to the point is where each weapon would have a Generation tree where YOUR race created a more technological advance within the category weapon that use for example:
If the Minmatar had a Projectile Rifle (Bolt action rifle) Through the Minmatar's technological advances it would become the Flaylock Rifle (Remains Bolt action looks different from Generation 1 Projectile Rifle and given explosive round standards.)
However to obtain a G2 weapon you must first max 2 G1 weapon types (Third being optional). Here is the example.
Caldari Sniper Rifle = Max DMG Prof. Ammo Storage (increased ammo ?/20 standard to ?/40 for example) . Armor Piercing (If armor/shield piercing stats are added to the game) and Scope Prof.(for this standard Sniper Rifle decreased sway whilst standing)
Caldari Tactical Sniper Rifle = Max DMG Prof. Ammo Capacity. ( increased ammo by 1 per level base ammo 15/?? and yes a decreased dmg for the tac SR) Shield Piercing. Scope Prof (for the tac SR at base will not have a sniper scope but a mid range low power acog, yes the TSR would be a mid range rifle as how I personally think it should've been.) Now for G1 each of the stats for these weapons be it Mass Driver, Assault Rifle, or scrambler pistol each of the stats (That aren't weapon specific example = Standart Sniper Rifle proficiency: increased damage output for Standart Sniper Rifle) would bleed into each other increasing your characters capabilities with the weapons in use (This would fix sidearms and breach weapons considerably).
Now what about the 3rd weapon category? Fully optional but with a twist when you activate and use the first 2 operation skill of any weapon the 3rd or other weapons black out preventing the player from using the weapon entirely, until the player reaches G2. Secondly the player will ONLY be able to bleed 3 out of many passive weapon skills (preventing veterans from getting TOO MUCH of an advantage).
Well what kind of weapons should we expect? Will they be overpowered?
Your gonna expect powerful weapons that would make a Madrugar scream "F*** THIS!". Here are some name samples!
Standart Rail Rifle - Standart Forge Rifle
Tactical Rail Rifle - Assault Rail Rifle
(Gallente)
Plasma Carbine - Ion Carbine
Ion Rifle - Plasma Rifle (think of an AI AS50 looking plasma cannon)
(Minmatar)
Projectile Rifle - Flaylock Rifle (As stated in an example earlier)
Heavy Machine Gun - Mass Machine Cannon
(Amarr)
Scrambler Rifle - Scrambler Battle Rifle ( Similar to G1 but capable of greater range for taking out distant enemies overheats insanely fast)
Laser Rifle - Laser Cannon (anti vehicle burst weapon over heats per charge, consumes 100 units per charge 200/600)
Lastly i'd like to add that only YOUR Race will have these G2 weapons and will be untradeable ( Minmatar will only be able to use its own G2 weapons, same will be said for the other 3 races.)
I am willing to answer as many questions as possible, but do try to make them easy to understand! |

*Ahem* I just like to clarify that if you dedicated into the use of a certain weapon, YOU should be rewarded for being dedicated for skilling into a weapon. The weapon itself shouldn't be OP'd, the player should MAKE it OP'd. (Via weapon skilling as stated in post!) |
