I would like this as well. If they can even paste it on your body, it would be awesome to be able to walk around the war barge before battles with helmets off. |

Super agree. Part of any good online RPG is character customization. We deserve an identity. Also add a Bio to our character so we can fill it with whatever pleases us. |

I would be absolutely shocked if they could get the character face/body generator used in EVE to run on the PS3. It barely runs on the PC as is. It creates some super awesome avatars, but its a CPU / Memory hog.
My guess is they are planning on waiting until DUST moves to the PS4 so that they can just use the version they have, instead of trying to strip it down / rebuild it just so it runs on the PS3.

It wont hog memory, it is only the FACE, not the whole body. |

What if the program is run in a cloud and we just save the face when it's done? At that point it would be just like another character model, akin to changing a photoshop file to a jpeg. What you do you think of that? |

Hey in case any devs actully read this...
I understand why putting it in game is a huge task and too much work but... think outside the box guys....
We've allready used the eve face creation tool in chrome and it worked better than when it's in the clinet for most people. So... why not have the character creator be on the website, have it give us a profile pic on the forums. And then in the future you can put it in game? But at least we'll be ready for it? |

Nope if you had read Templar one you would know thats not the case. Our clones follow the same principle like Capsuleers its just a different technique. So you still need a human "source" clone.
I agree that facial customization is one if not the most important part when it comes to identification with your char. Hell if I remember how lon I have spent on mass effect or dragon age until I was done with my char...priceless.
And even some F2P shooter without a rpg part already provide basic forms of facial customization. In warface and Ghost recon Online you can choose from a set of faces (at least better than nothing) and even PS2 lets you choose from some different faces (althoug the PS2 implentation is a joke).
Unfortunatly the devs have currently no plan on implemeting this according to the weekly feedback updates (but at least they have read the demand) |

Skihids wrote:We are all the same clone so we all have the same face. True, but only in half. The "same clone" part. It seems, external look & feel of capsuleers is not wholly genetic in nature. Rather it's plastic surgery...
Have found this some time ago, regarding capsuleers' clones. Have a look:
EVElopedia wrote:(...)Culturing a clone takes several months, but all clone stations store generic clones that are only put to use when a client buys it. The skull, and frequently other bones as well, is replaced by osteoplastic materials GÇô soft synthetic bone polymers that can be shaped and then hardened by gamma laser irradiation. In this way, facial features and other body marks and textures can be applied very quickly. The process is very quick and is applied as soon as the clone is purchased. A similar technique is also used to adjust skin tones and give special skin marks, such as tattoos and scars. This means that the featureless clone is quickly transformed into an identical twin of the client.(...) Source: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Cloning_(Chronicle)
I wonder if this applies to merc battle clones as well? I bet yes... |

At least in the novel templar one his former friends were able to recognize him so I guess your clone would look similar to the person that serves as first source for that clone |

I read the book and recall that, but doesn't that just mean we all look like him?
Station clones might be modified, but I can't see a reason to do that with battle clones. First, why waste the time before returning to battle? Surely the process has to require at least two minutes to mold a face and have it set. Second, why spend the money when you are going to jump out of the clone in the next few minutes and you are inside your helmet the entire time? |

Nope he was just the first. The whole templar team at first was filled with hmm lets say biomassed prisoners ^^. Later on as the programm evolved they used volunteers. So there should be plnety of different clones out there. |

Second, why spend the money when you are going to jump out of the clone in the next few minutes and you are inside your helmet the entire time? TBH, I always thought it was somewhere in the middle as far as we are concerned.
I have viewed us as basically "fully grown" fetal meat that has only developed minor markers of who we once were. We are made from the same genetic code as our original body and processed in such a fashion that we are fully grown, though mere minutes old on spawn (if even that). We're underdeveloped for silly extraneous purposes like eating, hearing and seeing (which are all unnecessary for life within the dropsuit since we can be fed by the suit, and the dropsuits sensors can be jacked straight into the appropriate brain areas).
Bone, muscle, sinew and tendon would all be appropriately developed (if not developed to super-engineered criteria) since they are necessary for locomotion (if not, then why not just make androids and use drone behavioral programming).
Outside of the dropsuits, I think we'd look like albino. thinskinned, unfinished shadows of our pre-implant selves. Earless, half-blind, lipless and most likely toothless; only vaguely recognizable by those who knew us before the implant.
Bear in mind, I haven't read Templar One, this is all just my personal view on us under the dropsuits. |

probably won't happen until Dust moves off the PS3. The Eve character editor uses CCP's very own Carbon engine, which does not run on the PS3. |
