Howdy,
I'm a person of... "mature" age, who's been playing Dust for a week or so, wondering what's the best way for me to find decent squads to team up with when I play. It's disturbing just how many so called squads form up that have zero communication in them
Seems like the best way is to find a corporation to join. But which one??
About me: I dont play every day. Sometimes I play only an hour or two in the evening. So in that sense, I'm a "casual" gamer. But when I play, I play seriously. I want to learn how to be the best sniper I can be. I want to learn how to be the best LAV/HAV driver I can be. I want to be the best squad member I can be.
So... what's a good corp, that is new-player friendly, casual-player friendly, and ideally has a good contingent of people online during california nights?

^- I recommend this corp.
Note that being the best sniper you can be in DUST usually entails buying a wireless mouse and keyboard. I can outsnipe any controller user. |

Somehow I doubt it has to be wireless ;) but.. yeah... while I'm getting good on controller, Id probably do better still if I hooked up a mouse to my keyboard as well. I dont want to deal with the RSI I'd get from playing with a mouse all the time though. Maybe I'll try using the mouse just for "taking the shot".

Usually the big difference here is that a wireless desktop set only takes up one USB port (you want one for headset). And not everyone has their PS3 on a desk instead of a TV. ;)
And trying mouse and controller as a combo is perfectly viable. I use the controller for some things still myself. |

That being said, i find that the USB hub from Rock Band, and/or a reasonably long keyboard cord and in-keyboard hub, work quite well too
(I hate wireless junk. I find that the PS3 controllers are more than enough things that I have to recharge. Gahhhh..)

Heh, I hate most wireless things (I string Ethernet EVERYWHERE, for example), but I've found certain Microsoft desk sets to work extremely well. I use a wired headset though. ;) Keyboards and mice last for months on a set of batteries. The DS3... yeah, stupid rechargables. |

I'd like to invite you to join our corporation, Knights of Ender. We always have a corporation squad up either ran by me or others. We play serious when its needed and appropriate and have plenty snipers that are pretty good that could giv Wyoming a hand. Now for vehicles, I could give you some really good tips and so forth cause I believe I have one of the best shield tanks in the game. And I say this because I rarely lose it to other tanks and AV infantry and I am on the front lines with it, not hiding in the redline or on a hill or tower rail sniping. We accept new players as long as try are willing to improve which seems to be you so I ask you give us a try. |

I want to learn how to be the best LAV/HAV driver I can be. I want to be the best squad member I can be. My current solo strategy, is sprinting around in a scout G1 suit, dropping uplinks, snagging an objective or two on the way, then seeing what needs to be done next. I'd really like "what's next", to be a squad coordinated attack, but... i'm lacking a coordinated squad! Can you provide me with one to join? So... what's a good corp, that is new-player friendly, casual-player friendly, and ideally has a good contingent of people online during california nights?
carbon 7 wants you if you are mature our comms usually are not pg we have a nice size corp and are part of one of he largest alliances there is always someone online to squad with either in the corp, ally, and our lfs chats though most of our actives play in uk time zones there are a few like myself that play all hours of the day randomly. we are noob friendly and can help you with offensive and defensive strategies on the battlefield. We have players in eve when that becomes more of a factor. as for now you should focus your skill points into a few areas I made the mistake of broadening mine out and its taking me some time to fix my mistake I could easily had a proto suit but im still in advanced. if interested search carbon 7 in your neo com and apply. |
