I mean anyone who's played PS2 for more than a few hours and who is not simply being wooed by graphics and particle effects would agree. I mean, there is a reason the large Outfits are all leaving in droves, didn't BuzzcutPsycho, for as much as a **** as he is, just pull his whole gang out of the game?
His reasons were pretty solid but it came down to this: There is no end game. There is nothing tangible to fight over. It's a glorified TDM with a map designed in such a way that it LOOKS like you're making progress, but also prevents you from ever actually WINNING.
Sounds a bit like a certain other shooter, right? The difference is we have multiple goals. SP. WP. Planets and more coming down the line.
Now of course if you're one of those kids who gets excited just because a game can shove a lot of players into a map (like M.A.G. did) you'll get excited at first. You'll play for a bit soaking in the epic feel of it... and then you'll notice you spend the last 3 hours trying to hold a bio-lab against the same 12 men from the same squad. You'll think you're having an awesome fight and BOOM. MAX Crash\Galdrop. You lose the fight.
Sure the first 4-5 times it's fun. The 24th time you curse at the Outfit that did it for ruining a good fight. And then you notice when you're winning, this is all your doing. When you're losing this is all they're doing.
PS 2 has no tactics and is about as deep as CoD.
I mean seriously I encourage everyone here to go try Planetside 2. Seriously, just go try it for a few days and you'll see exactly what I mean. We'll wait.
What you get in PS2 -
1 - fights so big a lot of the time personal skill is moot and you get killed anyway 2 - counters to vehicles so strong they are even more worthless than Dust, the only reason they work sometimes is because they throw human waves in zergs 3 - COD style fast mobility low health gameplay where you die in a few shots, only there are 300 people shooting at you 4 - battles of 2000 people on a server, out of which, 5 know what they are doing 5 - appallingly bad dev team that caters only to the whiners on the forums....they were in a worse FOTM cycle than Dust last i played 6 - SOE runs the game 7 - P2W up the ass 8 - random crashes to desktop on a REGULAR basis, much like Dust through beta except it still happens where Dust is more stable now
and last but not least....
9 - friendly fire. its fun to have it, and i think all games should have it. problem is, when there are giant walls of friendlies, the noobs stop caring and shoot you anyway, leading to a lot of greifing.
