This was a reply to a thread asking why people have stopped running injectors. Here was my feedback which i think deserves its own thread because there are a couple of suggestions that i would love to see tested.
Back before release CCP nerfed the basic and Militia hives to replen less and slower. With good reason, Hives were an unlimited supply of ammo even at a basic level.
Unfortunatly this has caused a few issues with equipment balance, no one is running ANYTHING but nanohives, no injectors, no REs, no Active scanners, no repair tools. (Well unless your a logi who wants to use equipment) But there isnt enough pure logis to feed the demand.
There has been a massive decrease in the amount of people who are being picked up, this should be a warning sign.
THERE MUST BE A GRAPH!!!
So current issues;
Not enough people have specced into Adv hives (Apart from logis) And for good reason, if i was an assault guy adv hives would be the last thing on the list to train.
Scout/Assault suits lost the second equipment slot, less equipment slots = less equipment on the field.
Conclusion; This means there is not enough ammo on the battlefield anymore, thus no one apart from Logis will run an injector, even they have the option of fitting and uplink and repair tool which could be considered a better use of an equipment slot.
How to improve the situation?
Easy fixes. Increase the amount of ammo in the hives, so we dont have to drop one every 10 seconds. But keep the rate of replenishement the same.
Increase the max amount of hives carried by 1 upto adv. (So 2xMLT, 3xBasic, 3xAdvanced) Logis use better hives, (Problematic for anyone But gallente currently due to the massive resource cost.)
More complicated fix but will require a balance pass;
Give the Assault/Scout Suits there second equipment slot back (On a different type of suit, lose a slot or increase the cost i honestly have no idea about balancing it).
What makes my opinion Valid? Well i have been a logi for little over a year now, ive seen the battlefield change, and less equipment is one of the worst things that can happen!! It decreases versatility and variation, i dont want to play COD or Battlefield! |

Sana Rayya wrote:I am a Logi and I use everything that BL4CKST4R mentioned with the exception of active scanners (no WP). I regularly make 2000-3000 WP per game if not more (dominations), with probably 60-70% from equipment alone. So yes, this stuff is used, so long as there is a supply depot somewhere on the map and stupid blueberries stop stealing my LAVs so I can shuttle between the depot and the front line to put down my equipment.
BTW, Triage Nanohives give plenty of triage warpoints, much more than you'd get from any standard nanohive.
Dude sounds like your one of the many few, the point of this post is to make equipment more worthwhile so people will swap it up a little or we get a look from CCP.
Im a LOGI4LYFE but theres no point if there only 1 per game. |

BL4CKST4R wrote:Repair tools arent used because:
1) Getting WP with them is rare 2)They don't affect shields 3) Shooting the enemy is more effective than repairing the player shooting the enemy.
Fix: Add a more intelligent system for WP gains, add a ability to negate the shield delay to the suits shields start instantly repairing, give then the ability to buff damage and decrease damage taken by the person being repaired.
Injectors arent used because:
1) Headshots and explosives make it so you cannot be revived. 2) They only heal armor. 3) It is dangerous to use them because it exposes the Logi, especially when equipment usage times got extended.
Fix: Only make explosives not be able to revive you, let them heal shields also, make them faster to use or an ability to revive from 5M away.
Remote explosives aren't used:
1) They suck for killing vehicles. 2) They are easily detected. 3) They are cumbersome to use, and take forever with the usage time increased. 4) They aren't sticky 5) No anti infantry variant.
Active scanners aren't used:
1) The range is way to short. 2) The cooldown is way to long. 3) They give no working confirmation saying they have scanned people. 4) They give no WP.
Triage Nanohives aren't used:
1) Repairing armor gives no WP. 2) Repairing armor drains a bucketload of pulses.
Nanohives are fine were they are, everything else is just crappy. Assault suits don't need a second equipment slot because they are just going to use that slot for remote explosives instead of support items, and if they do get one they better give logistics a sidearm.
It was fine until your last statment because you have no absorbed anything i have said, we could be using all of the fantastic bits of equipment above. BUT if the main problem people are having is lack of ammo then the hive gets automatically applied to every suit (Assault, scout for example) which is not what we want/need.
Injector does need a buff to res, the 'press o' to rez works(but appears slower than actually getting the injector out in the first place), but we doo need a 'lunge' to it for some more range.
RE's are fine, they do the job IMHO. The one thing i would change is the way you deploy them, i want them frisbeed so i can get range or get them over a wall onto enemies ALA C4. Maybe a double tap button to set them off is needed, double tap R2 to set them off for example.
I believe you do get points for triage nanohives? Will have to check sources on that one.
More reps per second could cause major balancing issues for the top tier hives. When stacked they rep enough imho.

When I use triage hives I don't get points :I unless the +50 armor repair is the points... Injectors should be able to heal shields so everybody can benefit from them, REs do the job but not good enough proximity mines are terrible at AV and REs are only useful for objectives, and I personally think they should be stick and the ability to cloak themselves like they did in Chromosome. I think that other equipment should be better than Nanohives or be good enough where we have the ability to just think to ourselves if I get a nanohive I can get ammo etc etc, but if I use X equipment I also get this benefit etc etc. For example somebody suggested nanite injectors resupplying x amount of ammo and that is a decent idea.
Shorten it down a bit for the greater good of the forum
Now Someone has said above that they get points for armour repair hives, but it probably shares the same cool down as the rep tool, perhaps this could be clouding your judgement. I do believe it pays out the same as a repair tool though.
I honestly think that the lack of hives and ammo drives people to only use them, because running out of ammo mid fight? = Dead.
DUST is a team game, but at the same time you have to rely on your self and your suits strengths a great deal. People dont trust random blueberries and for good reason!.
More whole point though? We want scout suits with active scanners, we want assault picking people up so we can rep them, we want to be able to have a mad-bomber class without having to stuff a basic hive in. Theres more choice out there but people are more concerned about ther own wellbeing (So they should its New Eden) but with this we have consequences. |

Also please remember uplink spam.
Personally I see the 2 most used equipment modules as uplinks and Nanohives. Just as these are the most useful to the most people.
Repair tools are situational, needles are less effective recently (explosive spam), the placeable explosives are underpowered, and the scanner is unrewarded, underpowered, unneeded.
Exactly, we need some more variety. I dont want to have to be the guy that has to drop his gun to get someone up AND then rep them as well. It takes me out of the fight rather than flowing naturally.
Explosive spam is a problem for injectors, with a shield regen buff on top of the armor gain it could work. But do I like the double kills i get when i catch a logi injecting his mate? HELL YEAHHHH!!!
Another arguement is dont inject people when under fire, but this is a hard choice to make when under said fire.
Uplinks are important, but the fitting costs are through the roof. Another thing that could be addresed, or at least a skill introduced to reduce the requirements without being a Gallente logi. |

Wombat in combat wrote:I'm generally happy with equipment, below are my thoughts on what could go better:
1. Core Focused repair tool could use a range boost. 2. Installation repair tools were removed in Uprising, please bring back at least one at prototype level. 3. Vehicle specific repair tools need to be buffed to be worth it. 4. Remote explosives need to have a feature where you can pick what explosive you are going to blow. 5. Proximity explosives need to be fixed. It's not normal that a LLAV can drive through a stack of 10 and survive. 6. Disappearing remote- and proximity explosives on flat surfaces needs to be fixed. 7. Add triage only nanohives at basic and advanced level. 8. New class of nanohives where you can have max 1 active, but can carry more than usual. Same with drop uplinks. 9. The active scanner needs to award war points. Otherwise they are okay. 10. All Drop Uplinks need to be team wide available. Limit uplinks deployed per person. 11. The nanite injector popping back up after a revive needs to be fixed, revives are very time sensitive. 12. The repair tool lock up bug needs to be fixed. 13. The ISK cost of prototype equipment is too high. Running 3-4 prototype equipment is prohibitively expensive.
Some great ideas here. |
