how do you fly? Do you fit afterburner? MCRU? max tank? resist tank? I'm curious to know as I only know a few python pilots.
You don't have to give your whole fit, I want to know how many pilots are using the fast afterburner fit compared to others |

double damage mods, 2 extenders, one resister, one booster. don't use afterburners. That's just my opinion though
many use afterburners and swap the extra shield extender for another resister. |

good fit, very similar to my own. The extra tank really makes a difference, you just have to be damn good at flying. |

yeah requires a bit more attention and maneuvers, but I like it |

true but this fit is excellent at squad support which is what the dropship was made for anyway! Though if a forge gets the drop on you, you're in a difficult position. so yes attention and maneuvers are extremely important. Thank dust that the python is maneuverable! |

2 extenders, active hardener, booster, overdrive and damage mod. Not sure how you could fit an afterburner without gimping your fit tbh. |

Dropships need MWD's.

Right now the fit in using is
2x ward amps 1x aziotropic 1x afterburner
2x light payload control system 2
1x XT accelerated missiles 2x ST missiles
I might replace one of the damage mods with a Jovian, I want to see how it turns out.

4x Best shield extenders 2x local powergrid and shield extension 1x XT accelerated missiles 2x ST cycle missiles
Then make a LAV fit with 2 shield transporters to rep it under cover ( It takes time to regen ) |

I have pretty much narrowed down my fits to 2 different situations; If the opposing team is FG heavy, i swap my afterburner for another shield extender, but if they appear to be swarm launcher heavy, i do vic versa, allowing me to respond to whatever AV happens to show up, although sometimes there's simply such an overwhealming variation of enemy AV, it's impossible to avoid. Yesterday i was seriously bombarded by about 3 FG shots, and 2 swarms all at the same time. |

many use afterburners and swap the extra shield extender for another resister. This is my fit. It's not the tankiest fit you can have but it's a healthy mix of damage and tank. If we stick to a fit that has a booster and has no afterburner, here's the options:
Max buffer: 3 extenders, 1 booster, 2 power diagnostic units. 3464 shield, 3849 effective shield This fit will take the most punishment, but will take longer to recharge as your booster has to fill 3464 shield.
Resist max tank: 2 extenders, 1 booster, 1 amplifier, 2 power diagnostic units. 2716 shield, 3550 effective shield. This fit loses about 299 effective shield over the max buffer build, but it has 748 less actual shield. This means that your booster and recharge only have to do 78% of the work to fill you all the way up. So, you're giving up 8% of your shield to gain 22% more rebound. This fit won't take as much punishment, but it'll get back into the fight way faster.
Attack ship: 2 extenders, 1 booster, 1 amplifier, 2 damage mods. 2571 shield, 3360 effective shield. This fit is once again a bit more fragile than the previous, giving up about 6% of the effective and actual shield from the resist max tank, and giving up about 26% actual / 87% effective shield of the max buffer fit, but for that cost you gain about 19.5% increased damage. That means that you now need about 4 missiles to do the damage of what would have been 5.
As I said, the attack ship is my personal favorite. I'll run an Eryx with an afterburner because the thing is a boulder with engines strapped to it (and it has more health than a Python/Myron), but a Python already has a lot of maneuverability for performing evasive maneuvers. I'm sure some people see a big need for an afterburner, but I'd rather just be able to take an extra shot.
By the way, fit militia turrets on your sides (at least in pubs). If you fit proto and nobody uses them, you just wasted about 200-300K ISK.
TL;DR Resistance amplifiers will let you bounce back faster and boost harder, extenders will let you take more punishment. Power Diagnostic Units will increase your health and your recharge, payload systems will make tanks cry. |
