Hello CCP, I know you guys are probably super busy with getting 1.4 ready to go. I just wanted to pop in to request some features for the dropship in the vehicle rebalancing update 1.5. I do hope you take some time to read this, and I hope it doesn't fall on deaf ears. I have heard rumors of a dropship HP increase. This has been needed for a while now, though I don't think anyone wants to see dropships being OP so a small increase of 200-300 HP should be enough to achive a more balanced dropship game. I know the pilot suit is far away, however once its released and I train it to max, that should give my dropship another 500 HP combined with the small increase in HP in 1.5 would really make the difference between new and veteran pilots.
Now I'm not sure if you're planning to put in anything new for vehicles in 1.5 or if you're just rebalancing the numbers and handling. There is only a few things left to satisfy me as a dropship pilot.
1. Counter measures/Early warning system
2. Altimeter
3. Speed indicator
Number one is obvious, though number two and three ill explain a little more. Adding in flight instruments not only makes flying more precice, it also makes flying with other experienced pilots a lot easier. For example let's say I'm flying with another python, I'm going in for a strafe run on b, I can tell him my speed and altitude so he knows where I am to avoid collisions.
If someone from ccp could get back to me on if this is possible for 1.5 I would greatly appreciate it! :) With these last few additions I can be happy with dropships, no more requests from me!

Ladwar, I know there have been a lot of dropship requests and I know we are still a month + away from 1.5. Though I would really like to hear it from CCP if this would be possible to do for 1.5. This might be pilots only shot for a while to fix issues with our dropships. I intend to take the oppertunity to try and get these last things in game to finish the dropship. |

And I do find that forges are the problem with dropship longevity more than swarms, some sort of countermeasure/resist too swear those would be necessary. A reverse camera would be nice, however I would prefer the altimeter and air speed indicator still as a lot of my flying relies on moving fast being unpredictable and cutting it as close to objects as possible at maxiumum speed. These two flight instruments would help me gauge speeds I need to do hard turns and would tell me exactly how close I'm cutting it around buildings and mountains. I'm not sure how hard it would be to make these, however I think it would be easier to make an airspeed indicator and altimeter rather than another camera and turning the dropship transperant when aiming through it. All that I need are my instruments and a little more health and then the dropship is perfect. |

Good! This means that many of my fellow pilots are comming to the same conclusion that I am. This also means that CCP is seeing this as much as you and will hopefully add this in 1.5 I just wanted to ask CCP if this would be possible to add in with 1.5 or if they are just tweeking things. Didn't really care if its "new" bro |

Forgive me its been a while since I have flown a plane. Are you refering to the attitude indicator? I could see this, however it would take up a lot of space on the screen. I haven't really had a problem with figuring my pitch and yaw from just flying the dropship, though I have been flying for months.
Again making an attitude indicator would be a lot harder than airspeed and altitude, maybe at a future date we could add the rest of the flight instruments however altitude and speed give the pilot more information than their angle of attack and is a lot easier to do. |

A lot of pilots seem to be fitting afterburners instead of tank, however this discussion I will be putting up in a different thread in general. I fly pythons as gallente barges just don't handle right with my flying style. 300 hp is a lot for an assault dropship as they can bring the allmighty wrath of hellfire and utterdesolation to enemy teams if used properly and if there isn't a good forge gunner on the enemy team. Giving the assault dropship too many hp now will make it over powered and that's the last thing I want. Remember that when the pilot suit is released and you train it to max skills that's about 500 hp (not entierly sure CCP can you help me with this one?) So that's 800 HP at max skills. My python will have 3000+ shields. This also distinguishes true pilots from wannabe forge gunners who only use dropships to get high (heh) I don't think dropships should have the tank of well a tank, though they should absolutly have more than LAV's. |

Alena ventrallis, Increasing the HP of dropships this much would be to much. As I stated in the OP when we get pilot suits we will be getting another 500 HP (I think) meaning I would have 3500+ shields on my python and its not even a max tank fit Your countermeasure Idea is pretty cool. I like the idea of having multiple types of countermeasures. I was thinking that all dropships would have a counter swarm flares that take a while to cool down. Then an early warning system for forge guns, because how do you counter that? Though I really like your idea with slots for countermeasures.
I'm against a hover in place button. Not just because it would doom the dropship sitting perfectly still, but also because I think you should have to fly it your self, no cruise control buttons.
The whole dropship goes translucent thing would be pretty hard to do. Remember they are rebalancing all of the vehicles and not just the dropships. They probably don't have the time to create a bunch of new features, I'm only asking about these 3 because airspeed indicator and altimeter are easy to do, and countermeasures are nessasary and were confirmed to have already been worked on by CCP blam ages ago. |
