General question for the community and Devs: How much of a suit is supposed to be able to fit at 'same level' ... that is, if I have a standard suit, level I or II in support skills, and standard gear, I should be able to fit that suit with all standard gear? If I have an advanced suit and skills at III-IV then I should be able to fit a full suit of advanced gear? ... Check.
If I have a proto suit, I am barely able to fit a mix of proto and standard gear. This seems true across the two proto suits I currently have access to: Cal Logi and Min Assault.
Min Assault: 5x extenders, 1x Duvolle, 1x Adv SMG, 1x Enh Card Reg, 1x Std basic plate, 1x locus grenade, EMPTY Equipment.
I am only able to push 6 of 11 slots to proto.
On the Caldari Logi, using 5x prototype shield extenders (it's a shield tank... and the extenders BTW are the least CPU intense of the proto high-slots...) limits me to: 1x Enh Gek, 1x Enh M1 Grenade, 1x Enh Shield Reg (bonused on the suit...), 1x Std K-2 Nanohive, Std Stable Uplink, Std Injector, Std Basic Plates.
Only 5 of 14 slots are able to match suit tier. I was actively trying to mix and match modules just to get this number to increase and just could not make it happen... without a fitting module.
SO: Are dropsuits required BY DESIGN to REQUIRE usage of a CPU module? I have near-max fitting skills and have no issues with power grid... only CPU on each suit.
What do ya'll think? Is it odd that lower-tiered suits scale just fine with their gear level (can fit a full set of advanced slots on an advanced suit), but proto does not, or is this working as intended? |

I don't find this odd. The reason is that it is virtually impossible to account for all permutations that can be fit on a suit. Further, I don't think all items should have the same CPU/PG requirements as some items are more powerful than others of the same level and there has to be a cost. Additionally, this is consistent with Eve.
In short, I disagree with the premise of making it possible to fit all mods of the same level on the suit that matches the level.
EDIT: and don't forget, there are a lot of skills that increase CPU/PG output, and lower the CPU/PG cose of the modules that you can skill into so that the fitting works better. |

Cool. At lower tiers though, you CAN do this. And it's not about different permutations of modules... figure out a way to fit more than 5x useful proto modules on a Cal Logi or 6x on a Min Assault and I'll give you 1mil ISK.

Yeah I think it's just the nature of shield ext. and regs, they're all CPU heavy. Everything is CPU heavy compared to PG now that I think about it lol but shield tanking seems to really bring that to the forefront.
I run cal assault and I had the same thought about fitting full proto mods, I just figured it wasn't meant to be which is fine by me. Just adds a another level of individualization I guess |
