I finally was able to try it out today when they released the 'neo' commando suits. I didn't want to waste 50k sp just to try it, and then I did anyways so that I could also try the A-1 series (goes good on steak I heard)
Oh there are so many things I wish I could change about it...but I think I like where it is.
First of all, let me just say that the Scrambler Rifle/Mass Driver Combo is so OP that you don't even know. Charge shot to take down their shields, finish them off with the mass driver. Scrambler for long range, mass driver for close quarters. Scrambler for when you run out of ammo with the mass driver...mass driver for general purposes.
The biggest downside to the suit is the pointless % to shield/armor modules. Just no. The second downside has to be the absolutely pathetic shield recharge rate. With one high and one low I decided to put an energizer bunny in the high slot to boost it to 15/s, and a armor repair in the low slot to keep my armor full.
I also use only standard weapons. The idea here is that I already have level 3 proficiency in both the mass driver and scrambler rifle so I do enough damage already. I also use them to my advantage, so I'm doing 129% damage to their health at all times (20% for the weapon bonus vs shields/armor, 9% from weapon pro). Killing enemies isn't the hard part, it's just staying alive that is.
Lastly, it's a heavy with an equipment slot. This means that for my setup I HAVE to use a nanohive, but I still tried a repair tool. I think people were doing double takes when they saw me healing them as a heavy...it was funny XD If I could have anything in this game, it would be a minmatar heavy with an HMG and a repair tool. Oh please mighty CCP devs, grant me my wish... _________________________________
Now that I think about it, this suit has a lot of advantages. It really is a strategic killing machine, but you can't judge it by the module slots, or its stats, or the fact that it looks like Ironman.
If there was one thing I'd change, it would have to be the cost. I understand that I'm not spending a ton on modules and guns for this suit, but the advanced version costs as much as my advanced logi loadout with prototype gear :/
As a side note, the prototype version needs something. I don't think it's a module, maybe like a second equipment slot? One of the light weapon slots changed to a heavy weapon slot? idk.
My next test is to try it out with a complex sprint mod and a melee mod running around bashing people to death with my massive elbow...or whatever it is he smacks people with to do that much damage. |

Some other interesting combos I found:
Dual Mass Drivers -Uses up a ton of ammo -Run out of rounds? Use the other one! -Even more OP than just a regular mass driver.
Plasma Cannon + Mass Driver -Better run a K-2 -Good splash damage vs shields or armor -Classic one two punch
Scrambler Rifle + Assault Scrambler Rifle -One is good for long range, other for close quarters -Switch between auto and semi auto! -Charge shot, full auto |

OMG this is so OP.
1. Spam scrambler in crowd 2. Spam mass driver in crowd 3. ??? 4. Profit
The problem with flux grenades is that people scatter when they go off. The scrambler also allows me to shoot people from long range and weaken them before I actually get to them. It also let me get long range kills with the mass driver if they're close enough to the wall. |

Every time I find a new fitting or weapon I have to try it out a million times and completely forget about my other fittings...
I find myself dying a lot more with this suit than I normally would, but then again it only costs 15k per restock for the basic one. I might put skill into it to be able to use advanced, but the price difference just isn't worth it to me. |

The current high cost would also help justify a buff to the amarr commando.
The commando does need to be given some love. Mainly a large sprint speed buff and moderate HP and shield and armor racial bonus buff. The shield recharge speed needs a slight buff.
I'd say increase the sprint speed from 5.75 to 6.25 The hp should start at 300 shields and armor Shield recharge should be at least 15/s |

Sardonk Eternia wrote:Great feedback. I thi the commando needs an additional module slot starting at basic level and a but more pg and CPU but otherwise it's a really cool suit.
The pg/cpu is fine. You can fit two advanced weapons on the basic suit, the advanced suit would be hard to fit two proto weapons, but you have to decide between modules and weapons. (I personally use standard weapons anyways)
I'm guessing the proto suit can hold two proto weapons if you use basic modules, but it still has enough to fit all proto modules with advanced wepaons, or one proto and one standard. The other way I can think of fitting it would be advanced and basic modules with one proto and one advanced weapon.
The reason I'm against modules is because this is the Amarr suit. All of the Amarr suits have low slot counts compared to the other suits. I'm guessing the Caldari commando will have at least 3 highs and two lows at proto, but maybe only 1-2 highs and 0 lows at standard. |

YES! That would make a great proto thing to have.
I'm really hoping one of the racial suits will have this. It would make sense that the Amarr variant would have it though since the amarr logi has a sidearm... |
