I was just wondering if there were any plans to have a system for resetting your skill points so that you can redistribute them? Like when Uprising came out, the points were reset, will this be happening when every MAJOR update comes out, or will we be stuck as we are? |

No more coming according to CCP.
The one that occured during the release of Uprising was the FINAL reset for the rest of our lives. There might be partial reimbursements in the future if CCP ever decides to remove certain skill books, or maybe split a few books like they did with the Eve Online skill tree. Until then, don't hold your breath. |

they said that they wouldnt give u a chance to respec ever again but i think anywhen in the next half year they are going to do one though. but u better should ask this question on these forums because it seems like a lot of raging caldari-assaults and AR users are allergic to this topic. |

Not really. People have so much SP now that they're suppose to have proto in multiple weapons that were at one point "OP"
Personally, the proto weapons I have are, AR, SR, HMG, SMG, FLP, Nades, FG.
Proto suits I have, Heavy basic, Gallente basic. I would have enough SP now for a racial bonus suit if i cared enough to play.
So how would giving me a respec mean I get to abuse the FoTM? I have enough SP right now to get Proto MD's and prof. 3 if i wanted |

While CCP said no more resets, CCP is aware that Dust 514 has no equivalent to assigning attributes that Eve Online pilots enjoys. These attributes determines how fast a player trains skills in eve which is purely passive.
So things that are like weapon systems requires high willpower and not so much charisma. Eve players get a free one every 6 months, this doesn't mean they can get a bunch of skill points and spend it elsewhere as they please but it does allow for a primarily nerdy character who dabbles in sciences with high int to go into something more aggressive.
This is also one of the main cores of the game is careful growth of soldiers, planning properly over time and expanding the soldier wider not upwards. This is why a total respec is so widely fought against. This is a game of variable consequences, failure is an option of your own choosing at times. While Eve does have a good balanced field (well more balanced) its far entirely possible to pick the entirely wrong skill sets into a specialization or wrong order of skills.
Dust 514's equivalent cannot be simply 'reset' allowing for skills to be freely spent elsewhere. This can be arguably pay to win if there was no time limit also giving the amount of time for something to become realized to be OP to "FOTM" to correction is almost 6 months around here based on current records and thus a free respec with even a time limit would nearly negate the ability to make bad choices.
While yes the game design does make it bad at times under ideal circumstances there shouldn't be too much punishment for choosing poorly and that corrections should be able to be done in a shorter time than it does to start over from scratch. This is why the idea of the untrainer booster was something that priqued CCP 's intrests because its not instant gratification but also a means of correcting mistakes over a shorter period of time. Allowing a player to undo some mistakes and quickly get into something that isn't big of a mistake and without turning into something that can be easily a means of Un-FOTMing instantly to the next FoTM |

I could care less what the Fotm is at the current time. I just want to be able to take points I wasted learning the game and put them into places where I need them to be instead of grinding for more SP. I would just max out core skills given the option of a respec. |

One thing in this bothers me..you mention resets being arguably pay to win ( and it being bad), yet then talk about boosters that CCP thinking about that allow you to reduce skillpoints over time and basically allow you to fix your mistake. Last time I looked we had no isk boosters, so I assume this would be Aurum also.. wouldn't that effectively make that the pay to win?
Now if it is an isk booster that would be full of awesomeness.. but we know that is very unlikely |

I still don't understand why people are against a respec once we finally have the racial suits and vehicles all available. I'm not saying they should respec every time they add something new, just this stuff that other races got at launch while others had to wait. And your FOTM arguments don't work since it is only one more respec.
Regardless, I have a feeling the entire vehicle skill tree is going to go through a big overhaul. |

There is only one acceptable solution an its still questionable,
1) Migrating skills back into the pool at -75% the rate it took to train them.
2) Can only migrate one skill at a time and it would flash red.
This will at least give the option to fix small things with ease and make a full respec more painful then good.. |

Something sort of related, but in EVE you can pay for your subscriptions with ISK, since the subscription is a trade-able item on the player market. I don't think it would be entirely unlikely for CCP to allow boosters to be trade-able items in the Dust player market whenever that comes. |

Arguments concerning EvE having attribute respecs are somewhat misguided... the 'gear' also has MUCH more impact in EvE than it does in Dust due to the differences in skillsets (auto-aim compared to using a controller) which makes the effect of maximizing Every. Single. Skill. related to your ship in EvE a much more pressing concern than getting, for instance, reload speed maximized in Dust... not saying EvE is easymode, it's just... different.
Also takes a LOT longer to become effective in high-end gear in EvE ... as has been posted many... many... many times throughout the forums, it takes about 2 weeks to get into proto on a brand new weapon system, which can be done if you save SP from news-of-a-nerf until patch. Takes a good three months to get decent T2 large turrets on an eve char... and that's just for the turrets...
TL;DR - it ain't that bad. plan ahead and move on. |

Direct Isk boosters would be unhealthy for the economy, indirect isk boosters (IE Salvage drops) where isk given to you from the sale of said item comes from another player (thus some is removed in transaction taxes) is far healthier for the entire economy as are the sales of AUR gear between players via isk thus getting RMT out of the business mostly. However until secondary market makes it in this wont be that possible or sell well.
As back for the Instant undo button with no time limit being pay to win I mean it.
The variety I referring to is the the favors the rich method. That if a player had 10,000 usd to drop on a game and you didn't you would always be behind in power to that person.
To make example of in Dust 514 terms.
Richie Rick> Flaylock nerf? who cares buy my way out of it. Cal Logi-Nerf? who cares? Buy my way out of it! Dropship nerf? Buy my way out of it!
vs.
Poor Paul > Flaylock nerf? ... I guess I can afford a respec. Cal Logi-nerf? darn out of money. Dropship nerf? .... oh dear CCP stop messing with me.
Majority of the player base will be poor pauls, freebies, or reasonable spenders, we can't expect a player to drop 20 bucks for a respec which they can probably scream for every patch until this roadmap is finished ontop of the already expensive boosters and aurum gear. This is detrimental to the community overall. |
