We have three kinds of weapons in this game. AOE, explosives that cover a wide range like the Mass Driver, the Grenades, the Missiles and Railguns. Spray weapons, where accuracy over time is more important than accuracy at any one time like Assault Rifles, SMGs, HMGs, Laser Rifles and Blasters. Then we have Precision weapons, where each shot counts, where the design prohibits spray such as Sniper Rifles, Scramblers, Tactical Assault Rifles and Scrambler Pistols.
To those of you who don't use these weapons, you may feel they are OP if, for example, a TAR or Scrambler user has a modded controller to increase fire rate to Spray levels, or a Charge Rifle OHKs you by tagging you in the abs. To those who use them, like myself, we wish we had a reason to aim for vital points like the head. It's just not worth the risk of missing when you're torso is such an appealing target.
To those of us who use Precision Class weapons I ask of you, would you take a slight damage nerf in exchange for a greater headshot multiplier? Look at the Scrambler Pistol, with a 3.5x bonus to headshots. Use it as a Spray weapon and you'll be respawning more often than a fresh player in a ProtoStomp, but use it to plug heads and you become a huge threat. Would you like to see that principle applied to the Sniper, TAR and Scrambler Rifle. |

Nope Head shots with my ScR charged bolt kill instantly away why should I care about dirty gallentean weapons when all that matters it that the Amarrian weapons are balanced.
Can't tell if trolling..... Balancing all weapons is important in and of itself, but see my other thread for why the Scrambler needs abit of tuning. Also, it may kill some targets instantly, but WHICH targets? Are those targets equivalent with the Scrambler's metalevel, or are you popping Militias? Or Caldari for that matter, SCR gets a nice shield bonus so you shouldn't really count them :p |

As a TAR user, I would trade 5% overall damage for a 15% increase on headshots. Generally doesn't matter though. Crouched players are dead before they can stand up regardless. Not modded :-P
Scram has a boost to Shields, not a boost to Headshots, those just tend to have great synergy with the greater chunk of the playerbase going Caldari/Shieldtank. |

By these definitions, Laser Rifles are SPRAY, as they are about keeping the laser on the target, not pulsing the laser at their face in short bursts. Furthermore, WHY do you not want the headshot multiplier? |

Pandora Mars wrote:TAR dedicated user / Scout Tac Sniper here.
I would not trade some damage for a a headshot bonus, in any case. Sometimes i have to support my team in a gunfight and I can't lose precious time aiming for the head, I will most likely land a second shot to the body thanks to the Tac sniper's higher RoF and insta-kill a red dot.
About the TAR, if anything I would give away 7,5% of the damage and get a 10% superior RoF (not headshot bonus, anyway). I tend to tap too fast when I'm in a dangerous situation. The main problem I'm having with the TAR is the hit detection, however. Somehow it's much worse than with other weapons.
*pitch* *pitch* *pitch*, I can hear the sound and see the hitmark, but HP are not going down... makes me sad. And dead, sometimes.
If you have to support your team in a gunfight and can't be bothered to aim for the head with a precision weapon, I have to say you are using the wrong gun. |

You OHK Militia suits with a prototype weapon. That's nice and all, but is it worth it to go for the head when you snipe at protos, or do you just aim for the assured bodyshot? |

EDIT- I can effectively kill things of advanced tier or lower, but against proto with my advanaced SCR the best I can do is deplete shields a little.
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=102080 This is the thread. The Scrambler Rifle needs to have abit more range and a better scope, like the TAR does, as it is the racial weapon that exemplifies the Tactical Rifle, whereas the TAR is the Gallentean knockoff. The Blaster having a better scope and range makes no sense from a gameplay or lore standpoint. |

By these definitions, Laser Rifles are SPRAY, as they are about keeping the laser on the target, not pulsing the laser at their face in short bursts. Furthermore, WHY do you not want the headshot multiplier? I think of spray as a cone which is what AR, SMG, and HMG do. Laser rifles are a specific point, which is the same as precision to me. Granted, the AR is a very small cone, but that's what it is. You can't "spray and pray" with a laser rifle. As for the headshot multiplier, if I have to sacrifice damage per shot to have a better damage on headshot, then I'm not interested. This would only help if you have time to aim, but that is not always possible - sometimes you are being charged by a full squad (like I was this weekend) and have to kill them quickly without lining up shots on moving targets.
True, but spray is more defined as accuracy over time and damage over time as opposed to accuracy at a certain moment and spike damage.
If that's your problem, then you are using the wrong gun. If you don't have the time to aim for the vital points you are not using the weapon right and should be using a different gun. If that's too much for you, then swap guns to a spray type or equip a sidearm. If you can't line up the shots, don't use a weapon that requires it. |
