There are to be 4 kinds of racial Rifle class weapons. Blaster(Assault), Rail(Breach), Combat(Burst), and Scrambler(Tactical). The Blaster Rifle has one of each as a placeholder to allow all four rifle types to be ingame, even though the assets for them were not completely finished. Then we got the Scrambler Rifle, which I very much enjoy, but I always felt something was off with it. It's the Tactical Rifle, and a Laser weapon to boot, correct? So why is it that the Tactical class Blaster Rifle has a scope and a longer effective and falloff range, obviously designed for long range engagements, while the Tactical class (basic) Scrambler Rifles have a holo-sight and shorter range than their Blaster Rifle equivalent? Anyone else find this a tad disconcerting?

It gives you an similar, yet inferior, weapon to use without investing further skill points into a separate tree, just as the Assault Scrambler Rifle gives us a similar weapon as the blaster rifle, though clearly inferior, without skilling into a separate tree. That's how it should be IMO.

That's kind of the point. The Tactical Assault Rifle, Burst Assault Rifle, and Breach Assault Rifle are all inferior models of their respective racial competitors, meant to give players who specialized in Assault Rifles options, but NOT meant to be better than the races that specialize in those features. For example, the Assault Scrambler Rifle is inferior to the Assault Rifle, especially once they fix it to actually overheat.

I find that it isn't used much beyond Proto because it is used incorrectly as a Spray class weapon, not as a Precision class weapon. Once the Fire Rate and Clip Size nerfs hit to try and force people to use it as a Precision weapon, it crashed the usage. People just prefer in-yo-face frontline shootouts and forget how to use perches, flanking, encirclement and speed to outrange their enemy and disrupt their operations. If I end up 'with' friendlies, the TAC is great for dumping one or two shots at every red dot I see to SUPPRESS them, make them take cover, etc. It also strips shields from a distance so that massdrivers, SMGs, and HMGs can do the dirty work of cleaning up the leftovers in armor. It's also super effective at hunting snipers without having to gimp your mobility and effectiveness against targets at med range that can shoot back. The huge ammo supply the **** has also allows usage of something besides a personal nanohive in your equipment slot. So you can dump uplinks BEHIND the enemy. Which is convenient on a scout because hey... scouts are fragile as ** and if you want to kill something you either have to blap them in the face on a suicide mission or hey... outrange them. But yeah... you have to aim.

Or maybe decreasing range on the variants while leaving the main AR relatively unscathed, as it is the gallentean specialty gun.
