This game can't maintain diversity by constantly giving respecs everytime they change stats. Are people seriously already asking for repecs with the new armor buff?
I've been shield tanking my Gallente Logi for the past 2 months because armor tanking was crap. I invested in shield extenders instead of armor plates, now I can become a viable armor tanker again. So what, now I need less than a month to optimize my suit for armor tanking....... what will I do being stuck in enhanced modules?
I didn't cry for a respec when they fu**ked armor tanking. I didn't cry for a repec when they changed my shield. I didn't cry for a respec after uprising because the MD was broken.
Why can't people learn to love a design, or a playstyle, accept it even if it is inferior, and learn to have.... *gasp*.... fun.
So many play styles have taken a hit, and there is still much work to be done, but a respec will only hold you over until they fix the next broken thing. Then you'll cry to get back into what you were before. Speccing to be the top killer will always be a losing battle, as things will always change, so rely on your preferences and experience with one fit, hold it tight, and dominate with it. If there is a true injustice, your time will come, and wouldn't you rather not let every FOTM respec jump on YOUR weapon?
Yeah, I know that a lot of you are seriously hurting, but you just need to wait. If they handed out respecs, FOTM would dominate the servers, and then the inevitable nerf would have people calling for more respecs. This would kill what little diversity we have now.
If balance changes are really a problem for you, invest in core and other broad range skills. |

Then run standard, not every suit has to be full proto or even advanced. I run in BPO suits all the time, despite having the skills to run full proto. |

The word is "RESPEC" as in "respecialization" , not "RESPECT" as in that Aretha Franklin song. |

Dust is on life support and if they don't keep the people here happy I don't see sony even considering letting them continue to build this game.
This game has been hovering below 5K at one time for awhile now. So yeah I'll act like this game has more THAN 2k players. Also the word is "RESPEC" as in "respecialization" , not "RESPECT" as in that Aretha Franklin song. |

There are valid reasons why we should get a sp respect (when all the suits/weapons/etc. are in the game), but game balancing changes is not one of them. Sorry you chased fotm shield tanking when you were running an armor-themed race. Your best bet should be to save up sp and invest in armor tanking.
I don't mind the change at all, in fact I look forward to it.
I sympathize with those who can't use the desired racial variants due to the lack of content. A selective repec for new heavies and scouts is not something I am against, for now we just have to make due with what we have. |

While people QQ for respecs, I can't help but feel sorry for the nub who has only 500,000 SP to spend. When did you become entitled to a complete SP reallocation? If you want to try something new, do it like every other player new to this game. If 500,000 SP is enough to start one character, why isn't it enough to try new things with an older one? |

FPS players want a dynamic and ever changing battlefield where we can adjust to the metagame and experience new play styles in a competitive manner (proto gear is the only gear worth running, you can die all you want in **** std gear but I sure as hell won't bother with it).
I want tougher enemies who have streamlined their build based on past mistakes, with a build i have perfected through trial and error.
I want skill over skill points, and I want to feel like every point of SP ive earned is going towards something i want, not something that was good but was made useless by some change that CCP made (not pointing at anything in particular).
I want rampant FOTM play, with the ability to theorycraft and purpose build the counter to the FOTM, and then build a suit that counters that suit so i can double meta game people.
I can't do any of this in this game... I chose caldari logi and that is all i get to play, I can never use tanks, and i can only play assault after ive caught up in 3-4 months with my weaponry and dropsuit skills.
I'm tired of the same build day in and day out, I'm tired of never knowing if the SP i spend is going to be wasted in the next patch when playstyle changes no longer allow modules i spent weeks of sp on to be usable in any of my builds, or watching as classes go from UP to OP back to UP again while all you RPGers just say... Cant you enjoy that you are playing a role playing game and and just deal with the fact that you could be 2x better if you had predicted CCPs nerf buff cycle?
Sorry, but fuck your reasons and the hell with this anti competitive SP system.
The things that make this game different are the very things you wish to see abolished. Invest in core skills, always a smart choice.

It doesn't matter anyways, its not gonna change because of either of our posts, but man it felt good to say it anyways. This game will not get good until people have around 80 million SP or so.. At which point youll finally have enough to get into a couple good builds, but I'm tired... I'm tired of playing the same games with the same suit and the same weapon. Too tired to grind for more proto weapons and defo no desire to grind for months for another proto dropsuit.
I want something new and fresh to play with, some way to change up the playstyle and see what other builds are like, but its all hidden behind a 2 month long SP wall, and it all just seems so pointless :/
I'm with you there. It can be a real hassle, but your character will only grow stronger. If this game is still around in a year, you'll have enough SP to max out multiple classes. That's the beauty of maxing out Core skills, it doesn't take much more to try something new and be effective.
Take a break, it helped me, and you'll still be competitive. Also there will still be a nice little pool of SP when you get back. |

I know people may not like me bringing an EVE story in here, but I started out my first couple of months as an industrialist. After school came back I gradually stopped playing, but I kept updating my skill queue. I invested in core and defensive skills and after a year (because I kept the subscription on) I had maxed out both. This took awhile, but now that I've started speccing into gunnery and combat, it's great to have those things done. Regardless of whether I change my specialty, I am still rock solid as an industrialist.
You find your niche You max it out You max out core skills and you can weather the changes, and try new things.
This is an FPS/RPG hybrid, it's going to have some rocky aspects merging the two, but you really need to have a long term view. |

If you think you're going to need to try something else, save up your SP, you have 2 months, that's plenty of time. |

People ask for respecs to jump from "PROTO THIS" to "PROTO THAT". Can people not learn to use advanced and standard? New players are forced to grind to get anything Proto. |

Remember I play this like an FPS and not an RPG.
It's both actually, which is where a lot of these problems come up. I never go above ADV in pub matches and it doesn't stop me from doing well.
I specced into Gal Logi and MD when uprising was released. Is it fair that a bunch of Caldari Logis who invested in ARs jump into my class now that it has power, when I was forced to always have the underhand in a fight for the first 2 months of uprising? If you want to go Gallente Logi, then you can grind for less than 2 months like I did. Instead of using my second respec to jump ship, I stuck with what I had, and only moved SP from my basic suit to my logi suit. I also stuck my SP with proto nanite injectors, because despite being broken, I am a logi first and that equipment would have to be eventually fixed. Yes things change, but there are always fixes.
Balance isn't easy and it can be rough but balance is what we all want, and we won't get there by running to each FOTM with respecs. |
