ItGÇÖs bad because right now strafe speed is at least 1:1 with run speed and this was not our intention. In keeping with normal physical limitations strafe was intended to be slower than run. We had planned to raise the strafe speed from the 1.1 build to around 80% of run speed (it was lurking around 60-70% or so depending on frame). After seeing how popular (and fun) the higher strafe speeds have been we changed our minds.

There have been no changes to strafe speed. The movement settings in 1.2 are the same as they were before. I suspect it simply feels a little different because performance is now so much better :-)

Problem?
Think the premise of this thread went waaaaayyyyy over your head mate. |

No problem u pointing out mistakes just don't be doush about it
Kay, here's my point:
Convey the information correctly. Wasn't the only thing that came in 1.2 that was screwy - Mass Driver stealth buff, Sniper Rifle stealth nerf were also some big examples.
People were running around believing that the strafe speeds -were not- changed because of that quote and it was hard as HELL to convince them of otherwise. It makes our job harder because we have to sit here and scour over information from previous builds to try and explain to you that there is a difference despite devs saying that there wasn't.
Edit: Also, you can say it was a bug but he did say they -intended- to increase the strafe speed. So, yeah. Just saying, at least know what's happening in the game otherwise it just makes us feel like we're playing a game that the Developer's aren't even aware of. The thread wasn't meant to come off as "douche baggy" but if you want to turn it around that way, be my guest. Can't fix things you aren't aware of. |

Nah, dude....
They said strafe speeds weren't changed, so everyone is running around saying "dev said they weren't changed, it was a performance update" when in reality it -was- changed. Much like the Mass Driver stealth buff and the Sniper Rifle stealth nerf in the same update: 1.2
I understand Dev communication is important, but christ if it's not correct information we might as well have the entire database on hand between builds so that we at least know what is being changed. |

Aisha Ctarl wrote:I remember when 1.2 first hit, the first thing I posted on the forums was that the new strafe speeds were ludicrously fast. Shotgunning (at the time, I've now since 'adapted') became impossible because people could just strafe all over the place.
Everyone kept saying that "nope strafe speeds weren't touched."
I knew I wasn't going crazy.
Exactly my point.
There's a significant difference between conveying information and conveying information correctly. |
