As it stands now, those that can't be bothered to take on vehicles in teams hate all vehicles as is, and call for every single little nerf they can think of, from dropsuits being pushed out of the way by a magic cushion of air, to LAV exploding upon impact with dropsuits.
I propose a Logi tank with some of the module slots already fitted with remote modules of all stripes, both infantry and vehicle shield transporters, and remote infantry and vehicle armor reppers. But wait, you all say, they'll just take those off to add tank like crazy. But wait I say, let me finish. Those modules could only be replaced by the same type, ie: Heavy Remote IG-R gets replaced by Heavy Remote Efficient, and Heavy Clarity Ward Shield Transporter gets replaced by Heavy Converse Shield Transporter. The details of it would be CCP deciding if those modules take up no PG and CPU and give us some PG and CPU to use, or they give the base hull a ton of CPU and PG, a bunch of which is used up by those already placed remote modules. Also, the remote infantry modules could be replaced by remote vehicle modules too, for incredible vehicle repair capability.
But wait, the entirety of the forum will cry, that would make vehicles overpowered, because then I won't be able to solo that Falchion with my EX-11 AV grenades.
I also forgot to mention that the one turret slot, large, could only be filled by something no greater than an ADV turret.
Back to the problem of everybody complaining.
You all already complain vehicles are too hard to kill. They're only too hard to kill because you make them too hard to kill, relying on being able to solo said tank. Something like this would necessitate teamwork in taking down the tank being repaired. Why? Because it's already pathetically easy to take out tanks, you're just complaining you can't do it with the cheapest AV gear. I fear CBR-7s more than I fear orbs. Why? Because I can drive away from orbs with ease; can't drive away from swarms easily. For those that don't believe me, I'd be happy to drop a tank for you so you could see just how difficult it is to keep a tank alive when facing ADV and PRO level AV.
So, for a theoretical armor Logi tank, it would have two slots taken up on the low end, one Heavy IG-R and one mass triage repair module; high slots, one Heavy Clarity Ward Shield Transporter and the infantry shield transporter. Turret would be a Neutron Blaster, and I'd fit out the remaining slots with the best plate and repper I could put on it. In case you didn't notice, that's 2 high and 4 low. I'd rather have 2 high and 5 low, but I'll already compromise because I'm sure half the first page will be complaints, the other half other pilots maybe agreeing, maybe disagreeing, so at most 3/4 complaints before page 2.
Since it would be a Gallente vehicle, I'll put its role bonus at -5% time to cooldown per level for all remote modules.
Discuss, or flame away. I should've been in bed already, so I won't see these until morning EST. |

I wouldn't want a tank with no turret, you can run a "logi tank" now, It just takes care, tonight I saved a falchion from absolute death, both his bars were gone, both my ghost buster guns were on him, Hp shot up, shield crept up, working as intended. The sacrafice is already there, I have to give up 2k armor and a resistance plate. Which is the reason not many people do them, current AV power can pwn my lil spider tank, if I dont have 101% concentration, or if the compressed partical cannon decides he needs me dead 1st..QQ. Did you forget this?

If another tanker is hitting you with a compressed particle cannon, he'll have you dead whether you want to be or not. |

Zero Harpuia wrote:Sounds kinda dumb... all the special stuff CCP would have to implement just for one silly vehicle. Also, tanks aren't what people say are too hard to kill, stop being butthurt over nothing. People are rightly upset over the rediculous level of defense that a LLAV has, and it is a STANDARD level vehicle. As for having a Logi Tank, people have said you can already have one but I think the role is best saved for Dropships and the yet-to-be-released MAVs, as well as LAVs. Tanks are far too bulky to use in a Logistics role. And for the love of whatever god you vehicle lovers pray to, stop acting the persecuted party, take your nerfs like a man and wait for your Advanced and Proto levels before you cry foul. Did you read the whole thing?

Fine then, let's get rid of all PRO-level AV weapons. Plasma cannon, swarm, AV grenades, and forges. Then we'll see who has the crutch. |

Mac Dac wrote:This could be me ,but i swore we had a logi tank before in closed beta. it didn't have a large turret but a gaint rep instead (but it still looked like a large turret) and it couldnt fight back unless the small turrets were maned. I think i have a vivid memory of one. I remember seeing three tanks at the biomass map (not sure what it is called now ,but i think it is the caldari production hub). 1 was a rail and 1 was a blaster and they were doing their thing and killing infantry, but the third tank was doing something strange and was behind the other two not shooting or watching their rear. It had a repper beam coming from its turret and was switching its beam from one tank to the next. I just so happen to be AV and took a sboot a it. Thn something amazing happened. When my swarms hit it the blaster tank rolled up and parked itself right between me and the repper tank and when i tried to get around it to get a lck on to the repper tank the blaster tank would always park itself right between us. And as expected I died. This was a very strange encounter for both the tank that didn't sboot and the tank that protected its other. I remember a corp mate describing a very similar experience with these tanks. Saying the rail tank would kill other vehicles and snipe while the blaster tank handled infantry as the tank behind repped. Their teamwork and selflessness were truly an unstoppable sight to see. Wish I was in for that. |
