Sorry for repeating if it has been said/mentioned already. (i am rushing)
1) Place the MCC in the red zone there is plenty time to get down and out of the red zone.
or
2) Make the inside of the MCC a red zone.
idea from Reaper PB

I saw two guys AFK'ing today, in a Merc Battle!
Why would you do that in a Merc Battle? AFK'ers are getting so bored they have to find different types of matches to AFK in LOL |

I'm sure it's been said, but yeah, making the inside of the MCC a redzone is smart. The problem with that is that everyone will eventually spawn on the ground to AFK. And unless they spawn and then leave the game sit to AFK they could just walk up to or underneath something to prevent people from pushing them around with LAVs.
My take on this is that if one is camping outside the redline they're fine, but if they're behind their redline and they're inactive for a certain period of time (I.E. no kills/deaths/hacks/installation destruction) they die. This way if they spawn on the ground but think "Hey! If I just move my stick around I won't die!" they'd be wrong.
They would also have to implement some sort of 0 wp = -ISK thing to make afking on the battlefield costly so even if they spawned in the fits that everyone has and ran to a corner of the map just inside the redline they would still lose money. So they'd still get some SP, but what good is the SP if they end up with - ISK.... It would kind of be like when CCP took away all the ISK that people mysteriously got and then went negative ISK, but it wouldn't affect people that actually do something. |

I would totally not mind if they continued to AFK when on the battlefield especially when the opposing team is losing big time because they have AFKers and your team is redlining now for kills. They become just as much of a target then. And not only then but you always have Vehicles, Dropships around looking for targets or opposing team Scout/Hackers doing there thing.
It's definitely better then what's going on now.

There is currently a proactive way to deal with AFKers, thanks to the high flying antics of Big Popa Smurff and his crew of psychopaths-

Cheers Nah because red zone sucks in general.
Also punishment isn't really a good way to treat any problem. That's where all the lashing out and doomsaying comes from. The way you do it is incentivisation. Then they have no excuse.
I propose that they implement a low-tier pay, like 10,000 ISK and 100 SP for any player that fails to get at least 200 WP in the course of a battle.
200 is not at all hard to get. That a couple hacked objectives and a kill, or hell even a drop uplink.
Just some sort of contribution. Hack a turret and blow another one up. ANYTHING AT THIS POINT.
It's like AFKers are edgy pre-teens. |

I think just getting any WP to earn would be sufficient to get them out of the MCC. However, I would really like the option to push inactive players out. That would just be waaaaay more fun. |

It's pretty freakin' sweet. I have nothing to do with any of it though. I'm not involved in anyway, I had just found the thread last night. I know you didn't mean MY thread specifically, i'm just covering my bases ;-) |

I have to admit that my post was very much based on the frustration we had in squad towards the AFKers on both sides and the idea that came was pretty much to just rip their bloody heads off. But from a logical point of view it makes sens that the definitive solution will be one based on incentive.
I am still waiting for the next update and i don't expect this problem to get fixed by then, it would be nice but i doubt.

That is freaking amazing. Poppa smurf deserves mad props. I'd gladly donate ISK to fund him so he could continue doing that. I also liked how he let the guys playing and spawning in there actually jump out. Very classy. |

I said this a while ago, PUNISH them for AFKING we are playing the role of a MERC, that means SOLDIER FOR HIRE, so if you are afking, you are techincally in breach of contract to the force that gave youthe contract in game. so at the minimum no rewards for them at all, plus a death for bring in the MCC when it explodes. However I also belive that they should be FINED the amount of ISK that the best performing player earns on their team.
For that matter as they have broken faith in the contract they should aslo face a penalty for new contracts IE they broke the contract by not fighting the battle, so they should not be hired for a few games (in gamesuspension from games for say 3 matches WITH no PASSIVE sp earned while stuck in their quarters.
Maybe this is harsh, I expect it will cause more QQ and insults at me, DONT CARE, AFK morons are the cancer of DUST, they are helping kill off the player base just as bad as badly thought out nerfs and patches |
