Losing everything when you die was enough to separate Dust from the rest, but this SP system along with it promotes nothing but grinding. Especially the way it is stacked now while getting no good rewards for unlocking most pre-reqs. Who the hell wants to grind to unlock the ability to unlock the ability to unlock the stuff you want, while getting stomped on by proto vets? Most FPS players don't got time for that, all they want to do is point and shoot. |

And yeah, the guy certainly didnt do his research, the AUR items being more powerful than ISK items is bullshit. |

No - I disagree with you. It depends on the context - and devil is very much in the detail:
AUR weapons are more powerful than ISK weapons when the player is new to DUST. Unfortunately, most players will fit into this category because they will try DUST for short length of time before deciding that DUST isn't for them and move on.
ISK weapons have equal power to AUR weapons after the player has played for a fair amount of time.
To make matters more complicated, if you want to specialise in vehicles 100%, you really have to purchase what you can with AUR to make it sustainable because you die a lot. I'm not sure if this aspect of the game is a 'conspiracy' or a 'c**k-up'. |

The author raises some good points about the framerate, unfinished market system (badly needed) and incomplete selection of dropsuits and vehicles. I also think that we do need some more battle options and not just variations of the same ones we have but a real ability to go ambush a squad or team out on a world somewhere while they are trying to do some PVE or in a PC battle against one of our allies. I want to play in the sandbox, not the line-em-up and knock-em-down trench warfare style of battle that this game currently employs. |

Agreed! I came to Dust from BF3 during the beta because I was bored of the same old thing. The initial promise that the game offered was what kept me interested, the promise of something different and more enjoyable than the Battlefields and CoDs. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy playing Dust. I just wish CCP could have delivered on more of its initial promises. We have no sandbox in reality, the interaction with Eve is minimal at present and the market, skills and suit/vehicle options are incomplete. Please CCP for the love of sweet baby Jesus add some more game modes and maps! Doing skirmish over and over on the same maps starts to grate on you after this long! And I mean new game modes not just a different version of an existing mode, pearing skirmish down to one objective and calling it something else does not mean it is a new game mode. |

The author is misinformed about the AUR items. The article implies that pay-to-win is the norm in this game, but that is not true. In fact, CCP has already taken steps to stomp out any pay-to-win potential in the game and if you look at the stats of the items closely you will see that there is hardly any difference at all between the AUR items and ISK equivalents in terms of effectiveness. A skilled player who has dedicated his time playing the game and not paying a single penny can still match the firepower and abilities that a player who spent $100 on AUR items has.
Even if there is some pay-to-win items, those are considered an error and players have already reported them to CCP to fix. |

Not an unfair assessment in terms of polish, mechanics and lack of gameplay options.
But the author jumps on the Pay-to-Win bandwagon way too hard which is a load of crap. Aurum items with distinct advantage over anything that can be bought with ISK are practically non-existent. Sure maybe a couple of anomalies crop up from time to time but they are not game changers IMO. I haven't spend Aurum on a weapon or piece of equipment since closed beta LOL. |
