We need a 10 mil+ club
I'm requesting variants of the current game modes (and any future ones) that are only playable by players with more than 10 million skill points. These variants would only become visible after a player passes the 10 mil benchmark (by this benchmark players either have very proficent suit and core skills or they have access to prototype weapons/gear/vehicles). They would offer much higher amounts of ISK than regular battles, so that full proto teams are perfectly financially viable. They would only offer marginally better SP payout so as to not skyrocket already proficient players.
Possible Numbers and Rules:
ISK payout: 800,000 - 1,200,000
SP payouts (unbonused of course): Ambush: 2000 - 5000 Skirmish: 10000 - 15000 Domination: 5000 - 10000
- Only players with more than 10 million SP can initiate these games, but they can invite <10mil SP players to a squad to join them for the rewards. - Anything goes: any gear/weapon/vehicle. But no complaining when the entire enemy team is Proto-tanked Duvolle Tacs and XT-Fragmented Falchions. - Players with entry to these modes can still play regular modes.
This addition would accomplish a few things:
1. Provide players with enough SP and ISK to use Prototype Suits and Gear regularly and create a 'real' game option for more hardcore players. This would allow more skilled players to move on from protostomping new players that makes the game feel like a grind for them, and a bad experience for the new players.
2.a. Create a motive for getting better at the game and also a motive to use better and better gear.
2.b. Create a motive for Corporations to practice in public games against players just as skilled as they are.
3. Allow prototype vehicle users the ability to actually fund their careers.
4. Weed out proto-crutch scrubs. In the elite game mode everyone will be on the same level.
5. Significantly reduce the amount of QQ from the newer/inexperienced players about the protostomps, and conveniently reduce the amount of QQ form proto-crutch scrubs about losing their shiny suit. They'll have no excuse.
BECAUSE I KNOW THE FUTURE: I have 11 mil SP, no I don't use protogear, yes I could easily afford it if I wanted to.

I don't think that people with 10+ million SP should be getting more SP per match even if they're segregated. And they'd apparently still be able to proto stomp in regular pub matches just to pad their KDR or for lulz.
I'd say let newer players have increased SP gain game modes til a certain threshold then let the proto bears have increased ISK game modes. Then after a certain point everyone will essentially balance to the same meta level.
The one issue with that would be determining at what amount of skill points would one be prepared to fight in proto matches.
Because they could have invested their SP weirdly and only have all advanced stuff. |

Why would players be able to back track into the lower tiered section of public matches? I would think the possibility of being able to go back would defy the point of having a higher tiered match. In theory, the incentives for playing in the mile high club with a near similar challenge wouldn't keep some full proto-squads from going "Hey... let's go stomp some noobs today."
Wouldn't it be better to add a mechanism into this to stop full 10 mil+ proto squads from entering? Or at least restricting them to standard or advanced gear.
Other than that, it's a viable idea, and could certainly be implemented. I mean... look at the current battle academy. |
