I gave laser rifles a try today and I've got to say, I am very surprised that we don't see more of them on the battlefield. Given I feel they are very situational but once I found the right range to use it with I was melting everything.
This was with a basic laser rifle and a Gal militia assault suit. Aiming is real easy right now, just kind of strange with the iron sites, can't wait for the new sites for it will make it even easier to use.
I wonder how long its going to take for the cries of OP to start with the laser rifle, probably after the sites get changed. But just had to say, lots of fun melting people with it. |

I know I dropped just enough sp to try it out. While the ADS is pretty slow I don't feel like its hindering my aim when I'm using it at optimal range. I'm still feeling it out on certain maps, but had a blast on Manus Flats. Don't really think I'll invest much into it, I'm primarily saving my sp for whenever they add pilot suits(crosses fingers), but it and the shotgun scout I've been messing around with have proved an interesting enough distraction from tanking. |

After a little more use, I definitely agree that the optimal range for the laser rifle is too small. It really needs to be increased, maybe by 10 meters or so not real sure. I've been running with a toxin smg and always have that little surprise for when the reds think they can just close the range and get an easy kill.
But with this little experiment into laser rifles I think I might just spend some of my saved up sp and try and get a decent fit to use with it. I've just been running all militia fits but this might change my mind for a little while, don't really think pilot suits will come anytime soon and unless they make drastic changes to vehicles in 1.5 skill wise I've got nothing better to skill into. If I can find a good spot to hang out in I can get a decent number of kills with it, but it really is an assist machine, which I don't really mind, but if you can catch people in the optimal range they melt like ice cream on a hot summer day. |
