I want to like this game, but every game is now a sniper fest. And sniping includes but is not limited to snipers, forge guns, and railgun tanks. My last game that I played was actually all three at once. Why is sniping so prevalent in this game? Lack of cover. We have large open areas in-between "sockets," and the sockets themselves usually do not provide any real cover, either.
So new maps with cover would be great CCP, thx. |

As a dedicated knifer, I usually stay within the city limits. Makes it a whole lot easier to dodge sniper fire. However Ashland and Manus Peak are proving to be difficult because everything there is open. |

Because winning or losing doesn't matter. It's all about WP, ISK damage generated, and minimizing your own ISK loss.
All forms of sniping are the easiest, low risk way of accomplishing this. This is no knock on them for doing it - it just is what it is. |

So new maps with cover would be great CCP, thx. Honestly, and I pointed this out over the weekend to my corpmates, the problem is the map sizes in general. They are fantastically sized for 32 vs 32 teams, but for small team sizes Dust has now, the maps are too large and are not easily or quickly traversed. What happens is you have players running into the next pocket exposed. If map sizes were smaller and more manageable ("player-size" not "vehicle-size"), you'd solve many problems that exist when large maps are filled with relatively few players (less murder taxis, "sniper fests," etc.).
I honestly think Halo 3 (last Halo I really played) had excellent maps that worked for all team sizes. I used to run anything from the large big team battles to the smallest 2v2 with my friend. The maps never felt *too* large and they never felt crammed, at least not normally.
I also think various game modes 2v2, 4v4, 6v6, etc. would go a long way toward the game play. As it is now--and I totally get that the game is relatively "new" (still in Beta if you ask me)--the maps swallow players up, since they were made for a game with personal transport quads, 32 v 32, all races having all suits, new weapons, etc. that just aren't implemented.

I feel like the maps aren't mid-range combat friendly.
Its either super blast you have way across the map range or up in your face shotgun range (thx tho for bad hit detection or else I'd be getting shotty nightmares). |

Lol while some ppl complain about MD being a noob tube that requires no skill and no aiming, others complain about SR which is a ?idk a noob tube with a long barrel that requires no skill and too much aiming. This games is becoming an MD and SR fest with no one using the AR - the only true weapon of skill.
On a serious note - there is no serious note, these forums are just too funny to be serious. |

So I was running with my calogi alt...no real weaponry training yet.....forgot which map it was ( because there are SO many right lol) anyway I hear that railgun noise right when I spawn outside the city. I turn around, sure enough tank is waaaaay up on the mountains, so I waste 3 minutes of my time trying to climb Mt. Fuji, drop the nanos behind him start spamming just basic AV grenades. I get about 5 hits in before he escapes, I give chase drop another nano dancing and chucking.
He kills me finally, all gravy good shot. I spawn back in at the CRU he is camping with a MLT FG ( that will show him right lol) Takes me 6 minutes this time to navigate up the mountain this time cause of my fat suit. He is just popping shots in the distance oblivious to my return. I get behind him again proceed to FG his shield and chuck AV nades.
He escapes down the mountain while I try to get a couple more FG hits in. Would say he was down to prolly a third of his HP, one or two more shots woulda done the job, but he escapes over a ridge. I chase him down in slow motion of course. Right when I hit the edge of the ridge I charge up expecting one of us to die....
Well...he pops up....no tank lol...he tries to gun me down but I give it to him good. So I message him while I use his face as a bean bag, not really hate mail just letting him know was kind of a ***** move. Of course he didn't want his 6 month old character's tank being defeated by my barely month old alt but c'mon it's fun when you are killing people from 300 meters away right but to recall your tank when a MLT FGer with barely 2 mil SP is chasing you wow! |

That sounds like one ****** match right there. A few snipers about 1 or 2 is ok and wont effect much if they suck at sniping but 3-6 all bad snipers HURT's the ground game.
When ever I get put into a game, I always wait and see what other players are doing. If they arent doing anything besides sniping with in in the first 2 minutes of the game I leave. Im not wasting my suits for noob snipers. Try this out. Saves you some ISK + a losing a game. |

I think if the red line was farther back, we wouldn't have this problem. They moved up the spawn points I think in codex, which was a mistake. We have transport for a reason, right? |
