although i don't think they work when they are activated, i have managed to kill infantry behind those, they are glitchy, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't

k i just hate how when i ride in a dropship i can't see where i am because of those doors and it would be nice if passengers could see where i want them to be droped off when im flying.
and yeah i have noticed that dropship gunners are extremely vulnerable..... i have had snipers snipe my gunners out from about 15m. The LAV's gunner is safe then a dropship's. |

There's a "comms with pilot" feature that opens the bay doors in flight?
I'm confused, and I am a student Dropship driver. Please tell me this feature or step that allows the pilot to open the doors while in high flight above the ground.
Hope I'm not opening an item that's already been discussed somewhere. |

As far as I can see as the pilot 'open bay doors' does nothing. Instead they open/close depending on the speed of the DS. |

still need quite a bit of work to be a functional bay door |

Yes, THAT'S the pattern I've seen. As best as I could tell, the "bay doors" button is disabled or currently unassigned as far as actual DS driving is concerned. The automatic opening-pre-landing and closing-when-fully-ascending is the only way those doors behave, and there is NO optional or manual way to override that. For the time being.
But if anyone can CONFIRM we have a secret manual control of the doors, let the rest of us know for CERTAIN. It would be a great dramatic function to have.

Hope I'm not opening an item that's already been discussed somewhere. To open and close the bay doors, while in the air press "X" on your controller. |

Yep, altitude.
It's stupid, since you need to be low for gunners to shoot effectively. And then, the doors always open and close up. Annoying if you ask me.
While in the air, they should open up when the guy press to jump off. He would need to hold the O until doors are opened. And they open automatically when the DS is landed. Pilot could also open them with X.
No such thing as altitude controlled. |
