I am messing around with outfitting my fiancee's character who seems to be very bad at maths or something.
The suit is 3 CPU over the limit. I quickly look in the fit for militia gear to upgrade to standard and grenades are the answer! The standard offers a reduction in 3 CPU, how perfect!
I bought the skill and equipped the grenade, but the CPU is at 284, still one more than I need! On what world does a reduction of three not equal three!?
I know this has to do with the different skills she has, namely the level 3 in explosives.
It should be made very clear that if three does not equal three, at least tell us what it does equal!
Just add a number in brackets next to it that shows the values after all percentages are applied. |

So, if it's 15.85 it will round up to 16. My suit is 3 PG more than it physically should be even with all skills level 5 because of this system. CCP never did comment so I'm under the assumption we're stuck with it. Here's my blog post regarding it: http://blindmanmoon.blogspot.com/2013/07/coding-and-its-relation-to.html Interesting read! It's still complete BS that three does not equal three. The grenade states on the market it requires 9 CPU, which is 3 less than the militia 12, but only reduced my CPU requirement by 2 lol. |

So I went and did the math: even taking into account what you said, the numbers are off...
Militia Locus Grenade: 12 CPU - The reduction with the 6% I get from explosives should be 0.72, so that rounds to a whole 1 CPU reduction. Basic Locus Grenade: 9 CPU - Again, the reduction I get from the explosives skill means I get a 0.54 reduction, rounding up to a whole 1 again.
In this case I should still have seen a drop in CPU requirements to the value of 3, unless CCP is using weird maths where 0.54 doesn't round up... |

MLT rounds down and the standard rounds up.. duh and you did you math wrong on basic if your still using the 6%. that = a difference of 2. drop the .04 part because that gets removed. ccp doesn't like normal math like everyone else. Would you care to show me how I did the maths wrong? I'm no professor but I'm sure it's right... |
