There are 6 militia weapons assault rifle, shotgun, sniper, scrambler pistol, swarm launcher, smg Out of those 3 usable shotgun, smg, assault rifle. (Yes the others can be used but for specialized classes,(except pistol it sucks) ) so out of the 3 most people want to start with automatic so shotguns gone and I quickly realised theirs a reason smg is a side arn, it doesn't do much damage, so every man stuck in militia gear uses the assault rifle something easy and effective Now this wouldn't be a problem in most games except this gane uses a sp system, and for that one that is irreversible so every person invests in what they trust the assault rifle And this leads the few who didn't on a genocide of nerfing against the a.r. claiming it's op because it gets more kills so before you nerf this weapon and bring the masses to a rage jist give the newbs more than 2 mediocre and 1 good options. Make a militia variant if every weapon so newbs don't flock to a.r. and provoke nerficide against a.r. |

Yes, CCP needs to provide militia versions off every weapon available in the game. You did omit militia forge gun from your list by the way.
Also, have you actually used the scrambler pistol? It is a beast. Not only does it do huge amounts of damage per shot but headshots with it do 450% of the listed damage. While I'm not going to go out and use it as a main weapon there are those who are good enough to do so and they are killing machines. |

Agreed. By not providing militia versions of every gun, new players are encouraged to skill into what they're comfortable with.
I disagree with your opinions on the usefulness of the pistol and the viability of a forge gun in the hands of a newb. The pistol is for sharpshooters, if you aren't getting headshots with it then you're probably wasting bullets. The militia forge gun is a mid to long range weapon, new players can easily rack up WP and learn more about the maps by hunting down turret installations and enemy vehicles. Once you get the aim down, you'll be forge sniping and laughing your ass off at your unfortunate victims. Forge sniping is easier, safer, and more deadly than using a militia sniper rifle. If there were a scoped forge, it would be the most op bullshit in the game. |

A VR training area has been suggested before, and I think this would be a MUCH better idea.
The last thing we need is even more weapons that can be used with no skillpoint allocation. With a training area, players could try not only any weapon, but any fitting as well, and get a really good handle on what works for them. |

I've been through the academy about 6 times to see what newbs use none of them used a forge, I saw maybe 2 snipers and a few people tried to use the smg early on but after 5 minutes of the extremely long matches the a.r. overwhelmed everything, with a few lav spammers, also never once saw the pistol |

I like the VR Training idea.
I don't see the problem in having access to more militia weapon types. What's wrong with giving players the option to use the same cheap fitting tactics many players use? You say the last thing we need is more weapons that can be used without SP allocation and I have to ask how it can harm the game? "Oh no, another militia suit, please don't kill me with your suit that can only be relatively as effective as mine or weaker!"
There are many players who run militia suits in order to save ISK. I know I switch to a cheap suit when I end up on a **** team. Why should only certain roles have access to a militia variant with an unlimited BPO?
EDIT: Looking back at the thread, it seems like you contradicted yourself concerning militia weapons. Do you support them or not? |

And I don't really know how I feel about MLT variants of all weapons. STD weapons don't really cost anything (If you put a STD weapon on a starter fit and do poorly in a game you still have to die 100 times before you start to lose money), and take one day of passive SP to skill into (18k).
I guess I have to disagree. Having more weapons you have to skill into kinda teaches new players the basics of the SP system. Having a few rudimentary MLT weapons is kind of a nice suggestion toward some basic roles you might be playing.
I would however be OK with Starter fits getting racial MLT weapons even if they don't exist in the market.
Also AR's possibly experiencing a nerf is completely irrelevant to your point. |

I would hate to see MD running around in academy but if it means that players could try out the Scr Rifle, HMG, KNIVES, Plasma Cannon, etc. Then I'm all for it. To say it isn't much to spend SP on something you probably won't like is to say you would be ok with absolutely no MLT gear what so ever. Getting a std suit, AR, SMG, Nades, and mods shouldn't take too long, right? The thread is an attempt to get others to use the various items the game has to offer. What's the point of having a laser rifle in the game if nobody bothers to use it? You guys always like to bash threads like the OP has a personal issue but there are a lot of threads, like this one, that instead speak for the community. I already know what I want and how to get it but that doesn't mean that EVERYBODY has drawn out there path. Some players would just ask about a weapon but the problem with that is, ppl tend to be extremely bias when describing things. If you really like a weapon then you will express just how good it is. But if he asked someone that dislikes the weapon then they would say how trashy it is. The only real way to know the value of a weapon is to hold it in your hand and pull the trigger! Another way ppl get info would be to check the numbers on the weapon. But if you are a true FPS player then you know that the numbers don't tell you how the weapon "Feels". The weapons' DPS can be low as hell but "Feel" great to you. Because of this you find yourself causing mayhem whenever you whip it out.
Give the newbs there MLT weapons! You scared they will wreck your precious K/D if they find a weapon that they actually like early?
`Sigh. Just another fun game of DUST. |

I'm all for MLT everything and don't think it will be a bad thing for the game at all. What we need to wean new players off ARs is to provide all the racial rifle variants and incorporate them into the starter fits. Amarr players should get scrambler rifles already instead of a gallente assault rifle. There should also be a racial specialty starter fit for each race - i.e. amarr should get a laser rifle fit; minmatar a shotgun fit; etc. This would give us more racial identity from day 1 and start to teach new players that certain weapons work well in certain set-ups. |

MLT is usually garbage compared to STD (reduced clip, increased reload time, increased CPU/PG, etc) so why not have MLT variants for all weapons?
