The LAVs looked more practical back then compared to the sports car looking things we have now. |

I think the old Gallente LAV looks way better than what we have now. Now, all the LAV type vehicles look like they are not combat worthy. |

Because it was a proprietary engine(easier to work with when you know all the ins and outs because it's in house), and on souped up PC's(note, the PS3 and Xbox were "decent" grade PC comparable when they came out a decade or so ago) and it was causing possibly literal meltdowns whenever they tried to put it on the PS3(this one's kind of self explanatory). |

Old Light Attack Aircraft were going to be a Planetside-style attempt at mashing together a helicopter and a jet.
BAD juju.
Looks like they're just going to have them be jets now, which is definitely for the best. |

that's fine if they don` work like WarHawk`s (PS3 game) but they would need a analog to control speed. |

And last we've seen them (Fan Fest 2013) they were still working that way, so I don't see any reason to think otherwise. |

Sadly, as much as I want LAAs (and the SP I have been saving up for them), I doubt they will be released before the demise of this game.
The only thing that will save this game in the future is if CCP basically uses what we have now as a testbed for ideas. Start up a closed BETA on the PS4 early next year using their own engine and then release it next May (after the exclusivity contract is up) with all the bells and whistles.
The PS3 cannot handle what is needed for this game to survive. |

It wasn't exactly gameplay so much as showing what seemed like a transition between a flight mode and a hover/landing mode.

The older lavs also weren't so generic looking. Right now, I can never tell one from another by looks. To be fair, though, half the time, I don't see it until after it hits me. |

Can't find the video (or rather, don't want to dig through to find the specific time on the specific video), but here are some images

The one in landing position has no wheels, as well as multiple propellers opening up. This means that it doesn't take off and land like a typical jet, but instead takes off and lands vertically. I have used this to imply its hover capabilities are still intact, though I suppose it could work like starships in Star Wars Battlefront that take off and land vertically but can not hover. |

I recognize those pics from my Imgur gallery.
And that's exactly what I've been saying about its VTOL setup. Obviously Dust isn't a game where you'll have runways or anything like that, as in a situation where you have to be able to deploy into combat rapidly a VTOL aircraft is the best bet, especially considering that they have to be able to be delivered by RDVs.
One of the major failings of the proposed 2006 design was that secondary turret the passenger could use. It would only deploy in "hover-mode", so you would basically have another person in your aircraft that could do nothing and was effectively useless if you were going after other aircraft. He could only actually contribute if you went into the "hover-mode" to attack ground targets.
Not very fun for the passenger. |
