Well then learn to fly them so you don't go through them like firewood. If I drop 1,000,000 ISK into an aircraft so I can have decent countermeasures and Jovian Fusion Cores to be able to move the damn thing, I don't want to be sharing the airspace with some bozo who is just going to TRY to land on the top of a building, but will probably just end up doing a backflip before making love to the ground with his thrusters.
To review: 1) Darn right they cost a lot, you need to pay for that power 2) Learn to fly. I can make an Assault ship last four matches if I am careful. 3) Last thing we need are more roof forge gunners
and I think I forgot
4) There is already a limit on dropships that can occupy an airspace, I don't want a mechanical illiterate to be denying me that spot. |

As soon as you come under fire, increase altitude and wave off until you can get someone in your squad to suppress and area, then follow up with a gun run.
This is the issue with the community, all of you want a one step fix to problems. Instead of planning out and coordinating attacks, the buck almost always stops at "MAH FLAYLOCK GOES BOOM!"
Useless. |

No, thank you. Though I have to admit, with certain torque boosters, that dropship WILL try to go vertical. Shouldn't be too hard to compensate for though.
Also:
Rusty Shallows wrote:Nguruthos IX wrote:over priced. Reading the thread title for a sec I thought you had finally cracked Nguruthos. Whatever happened to the discount the Devs were talking about? Good topic to bring back up. +1 Aside are those Jovian engines the ones people have to unlock with the dead weight Vehicle Maneuvering skill? Oh, Captain Well-Spec'ed here thinks the Maneuvering skill is dead weight! Buddy, it is unlocked at vehicle upgrades Level 1. LEVEL 1. And I wager that the cost to spec into Jovian thrusters is, at the end of the day, only a fraction of the skill it can cost used to spec into those Proto ARs everyone seems to favor. People who think those thrusters are useless obviously don't know what a 25% increase in torque output on a Python-class VTOL feels like. For you plebs that don't get mechanics, that is a lot of extra ponypower. Imagine transforming a flying school bus into an Apache helicopter. Slap on advanced missile silos and you are doing diving gun runs from near orbit at a pace that some guy in a heavy suit can't even track at.
If you still think that is useless, then consider this. With Uprising 1.5 coming up, you have to be at full speed to roadkill someone. In a modified scout car with Fusion accelerators, that won't be a problem. There have been times when I honestly thought I was going to go so fast I would time travel back into the 1960s and have to teach my father how to not be a *****.
That is a Back to the Future reference. You enjoy that. |

Kadar Saeleid wrote:So strange to hear a Darkstar down-playing ds pilot skill when one of the best pilots I've ever seen is in your corp. Ask Evolution-7 if piloting is easy, I'm sure he'll educate you. Don't get me wrong, piloting can be aggravating as hell sometimes. But what I am trying to say is that there is a reason they are so expensive. For people who know how to use the tech well enough to commit to dropping the coin, it can make us rule the air. For that exact reason I don't want some guy who can just barely move forward fifteen feet potentially clogging my airspace.
Yes, a Jove core can make you do a loop-de-loop. It is also just as likely to drive you into a mountain if you don't know how to use it. |

No good Dropship pilot would be at MCC height anyway, unless they are evading swarms or forge gunners. A real Aerial Support Dropship Pilot would be flying just above ground level, right through the city. P.S. This might be bragging, but i can do that. I owe you a drink.
Again, my play-style is fitted more for the shock-and-awe factor, and there is no better feeling then ripping between two buildings five feet off the ground. Granted, I have a lot of respect for guys like you who can hover through a facility. |

I wish my logi LAV would last 2-3 games.... oh wait it does. 2-3 Dozen games heh! You don't have to deal with magically uncloaking RDVs. |
